JudyL,
Welcome! I'm sure Sue will get those numbers for you. I know that it's a great program and they get a lot of stage management opportunities early on.
Marianne

Greetings,

The Stage Management Program is another outstanding part of The Conservatory. This year, there are six in the first year, three in the second year, one in the third year and seven in the fourth year. Our goal for an entering class is 6. However, if we do not see six qualified candidates, we will not accept them. The primary requirement for review for acceptance for the Conservatory is an interview, a production book and a resume. We can conduct the interviews during the Unifieds or on campus. I hope this helps to get you started. Our stage managers have a real advantage over other programs in that they serve as PA's for The Repertory Theatre and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis while they are students. The program is developed so this experience is part of the curriculum.

Been away for a while on business.

Thanks for the info. I'll head over to the music major forum. My son and I were both quite impressed with Webster.

Just found out that D has been admitted to Webster academically. We know that the most competitive part of the application process is yet to come, but it is still a really nice feeling.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOUR DAUGHTER! Each affirming step is a nice feeling. I hope there is more to come.

I second the congratulations! Let us know if you have any questions!

Exciting news!! Jerry Mitchell is scheduled to be at Webster November 6-7 and will be conducting master classes.

FYI....here is an article about new MT head at Webster, Lara Teeter. It ran in THE JOURNAL, the on-campus newspaper. http://media.www.webujournal.com/media/storage/paper245/news/2007/10/11/Lifestyle/Teeter.Takes.On.Teaching-3024094.shtml

P.S. after posting I noticed that the picture is covering a portion of the article. Hint: click on "print" icon and you will be able to read printer ready format of article in it's entirety.

Sue, Thanks for the link to the Lara Teeter story and the exciting Jerry Mitchell news!

5pants. Do you know what kind of master class Jerry will be teaching?

I am so sorry I don't know specific details.

Hi Sue,
My D can audition for Webster either at Unifieds in NY in early Feb or we can wait to audition on campus in March. I believe she would be better off waiting for an on-campus audition, but wonder if she would be at a disadvantage because she wouldn't be auditioned until March. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!

sualabama,

I remember asking my Ss about this very scenario as others in the past have worried that might be too late. They insist that many in their class were picked to be invited from that late audition date and it didn't seem to matter. Actually, look at it this way...your D would be "fresh" in their heads, right?

Perhaps Marianne or Barb might have an opinion on this also. Their Ds are currently sophomores...let's see if they weigh in.

Personally speaking I lean towards on-campus auditions...but completely understand the convenience of unifieds.

Break a leg!! :)

SUE

I can't speak for Webster, but my D was admitted to some BFA schools where she auditioned on their last audition date. I don't think this truly matters. If you prefer an on campus audition, don't let the order of audition dates stop you. If they didn't want to take kids from the later dates, they would not bother with those auditions.

My d auditioned for Webster mid March at a regional audition and was accepted. If you prefer the on-campus audition I don't believe a late date would put her at a disadvantage. Best of luck to her, Webster's a great school -- my daughter loves it there! :)

I totally agree. They do not make any decisions until they have seen all of the auditions as far as I know. My D did the unifieds in February but I really don't think it matters. So if you can, I would say do the on-campus audition because it will be so much fun for her.

Thank you all so much! As you know, this process is so stressful and having this forum is really great. I appreciate all of you sticking around even after your kids are in college. The help and feedback is so very valueable and meaningful.

Hi,

The advice you have received is correct. The selections are not made until after the auditions are over. Dates and locations are all treated equally. We simply want the best and most talented students we can find.

Plaidman - thanks for the information. Along the same lines, do the kids who audition early on get "forgotten" by the end of the audition season?
