My D auditioned with Webster at Chicago Unifieds. We are new to this audition process, but while I was sitting and waiting for my daughter I was surprised to see the type of treatment that some students received when they inquired about walk-in auditions. I watched 3 different students ask about walk-ins and they were essentially brushed off – being told nothing at all was available. And then less than 5 minutes later, a teacher (who knew the Webster person doing the sign-up) brings in 4 students who ask for walk-in appointments and those students were given the choice of 2 different times to sign-up for walk-ins.
This didn’t leave me with a very good impression of Webster – not very even-handed treatment of students.

I hope you misunderstood what happened. Or maybe this was arranged way in advance. I really hope that was the case.

Some schools have a policy that you can do an walk in only if you previously applied to the school before the deadline.

My D auditioned for Webster at NYC Unifieds but we didn’t see any of that going on. On a side note, has everyone who auditioned for Webster received a personal email thanking them for auditioning? I am assuming this is standard practice. Thanks.

I think the person checking in people for auditions had a hectic job and possibly just didn’t handle the situation well. All of my D’s auditions were arranged ahead of time, but I really admired the students who were trying to arrange walk-ins. The ones I saw were very polite and seemed to have a lot of determination to make the most of their time at walk-ins.

Natalieblueeyes, I totally agree. My D did not walk-ins because the process seemed daunting. We are too organized to be able to handle that. Wish I was more flexible! :)

No email thanking our son…hmmm…haven’t heard anything, either.

I wrote the initial post about Webster and walkin at Unifieds and I wanted to say that my D’s interactions with Webster since Unifieds have been great. I think that first impression was more about the crazy situation than about Webster. (No acceptance news but they have been very helpful).

lulu63, my daughter has received an email, and a friend of hers did as well.

S has not received an e-mail, auditioned at Chicago Unifieds.

Maybe they are just emailing the girls! So hard to try and not read in to anything! Can’t wait to hear any news. Unfortunately, Webster does auditions through 3/18 so it will be awhile!

I did not receive an email either…

What do the emails say? And are they all from the NY auditions?

I think they are all diff. My D’s was just thanking her for a solid audition. She aud at NYC unifieds. Not sure about the rest.

Checked application status online and it says “You have been at the APPLAUD stage since 2/11/2011.” Does anyone have the same message or know what that means? Thanks!

I bet that means “Apply/Audition” stage - which means you get to wait like the rest of us:-)

My D has that same type of Appauld message but she has been at Appauld status since October 2010 – that is when she was academically admitted. For her, I think it just relates to her academic admission – nothing about the results of her audition.

same here Natalie… at APPLAUD stage since early December

“APPLAUD” means a student has been academically accepted to the University.

Can you give us any information on when Webster will notify students and how? Email? Letter? Thank you for any information you can supply.

My daughter is a junior MT student at Webster and I remember these waiting days quite well. Webster notified by letter. My daughter has loved her experience and is nervous yet anxious to be a senior. If I can help anyone, please don’t hesitate to ask.
