<p>What are weekends like on campus? Does it become a ghost town or do a lot of people tend to stay around campus?</p>
<p>Most students don’t go home for the weekend, if that’s your question, even if they are from Chicagoland or even Hyde Park. It seems like a “typical” student splits their time between dorms, library, campus events, and exploring other parts of the city on weekends.</p>
<p>Lived in Hyde Park for a year two years ago, two blocks down from Obama :).</p>
<p>I can guarantee you that Hyde Park and the U stay lively on weekends. </p>
<p>I can also add that I never heard my D in her four years there talk about classmates gone for the weekend, unless it was a sports team or EC related event. </p>
<p>The U does not seem to attract a group of students that go home for weekends. </p>
<p>BTW, this also applies to a number of her classmates from the Chicago area!</p>
