Weighing My Options

I've wanted to be a vet since I was about six years old, but I'm starting to get very concerned about student debt. I've been toying with the idea of going to nursing school for my undergrad and then applying to vet school. Has anyone ever heard of someone doing this before?

You could certainly do that–you’d just have to make sure that nursing school would cover all the vet school pre-requisites (or take those extra classes on the side, which may be difficult). It won’t really save you any money (assuming you’re talking about getting your B.S. in nursing, that wouldn’t be cheaper than any other undergrad degree), but at least you’d know you’d have a decent job to fall back on if you didn’t get into vet school. In any case, kudos to you for being concerned about debt. You hear way too many stories of people who are drowning with hundreds of thousands in student loan debt.
