How important is it that a business undergraduate program be accredited by the AACSB???

i have a friend that graduated at a non-AACSB school & he receive above a 3.6 gpa with a BS in accounting. however, since he graduated no one has hired him. whereas, i have other friends who received about a 3.4/3.5 gpa with a BBA/BS accounting degrees at AACSB schools who received offers after a few months of graduating (& some who received job offers while in school).

For accounting at least it’s important if you want to work in public accounting. It may also make it easier to get into some companies. That being said it isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker. I haven’t had any issues and my school was not AACSB accredited, but if I had it to do over again I would go to one that was.

RVR22, search is your friend. This has been answered several times, such as posts, 436 and 536, in the thread, “Everything you wanted to know or should know about accounting.”

How to make this a sticky? This accreditation question has been asked a hundred times :)

I second the fact that the thread, Accreditation for accounting programs, should be made into a sticky thread.
