weighted GPA?

on college board it says that the average GPA is 3.9 is this average weighted or unweighted?

bump.......

does anyone know

I think they recalculate it. You can check on the website for the details (or it may be on an earlier thread). I think they count core subject areas and then give weight to honors, ap/ib, etc.

oh alright, that makes sense, i was really surprised when i saw it...i thought i had no chance but if they re-calculate for AP's then thats not too bad

Elon will recalculate your gpa to a 4.0 scale. They take into consideration you course level of difficulty and strength of schedule. They will weight AP and honors courses.

I think South Carolina's GPA is out of 5.0

I am not sure what that comment meant but ---

First, we convert all grading scales to a 4.0 scale. Second, Elon takes academic core courses into consideration when evaluating your file. From those courses we recompute an Elon GPA giving weight to honors, AP and IB courses.

The Elon GPA is a tool we use to attempt to evaluate all students equitably. We make a special effort to give you credit for your grades, the degree of difficulty of the classes you take and the competitiveness of your high school.
