So when I look on the internet and see that the “average GPA for UPENN is 3.9”, do they mean the weighted or unweighted GPA? On some websites it says weighted but for such a selective school I find that hard to believe. Thanks!
It is normally unweighted. Weighting systems are not consistent across HS. Sometimes if you see a college report a weighted GPA, it is using the colleges weighting system.
The difference may be important for your understanding. However, high schools and colleges know how to read transcripts to get the information needed for admission.
