Weird question- coin laundry.

I'm currently in Austin, staying in the La Quinta Inn on 11th street before checking into the dorms on the 22nd and..I can't find any coin laundry nearby anywhere!

All I could find were pay-per-piece laundry which is too damn expensive.

Oh, I'll be moving to Days Inn University close to UT off I-35 on the 17th.. so if anybody knows of any coin laundry near the La Quinta or Days Inn it would be a great help.. thanks.

On an unrelated note, I can't wait for fall because it's TOO DAMN HOT!

Hey, Razr, don't worry. You'll get used to the heat (or learn where all the air conditioned places are!)

As for a coin laundry, there's a good one at the corner of 24th ST and San Gabriel about 6 blocks North of the drag/campus. I can't tell if you have a car or if you are walking, but it's too far to walk if you don't have a car. There may be a shuttle/Metro route you can take. Here's a link to the Capital Metro trip planner: http://www.capmetro.org/riding/tripplanner.asp.

Found it, thanks.

Razr, other than the heat, how do you like Austin so far?

So far so good, the bus system is convenient, the campus is nice and the college girls are hot.

I think I feel the heat a bit more because I came to Austin after a week in San Francisco where the summers are actually quite chilly....

You sound like our son. We were in Austin earlier this week and I think he said almost the same thing.

Austin was empty when we visited and not much was going on. There should be more people next week and it should really get active around August 26-28. However, except for the heat, I like the campus in the summer because it's more relaxed and easier to get around. If you have time, check out HEB's Central Market on North Lamar. It has good food, and it's a good place to watch people or read a book while you eat.

Austin and San Francisco have different climates and it would be hard to go from one to the other in August. I live in the desert where it's very hot, but Austin's humidity makes the heat seem more intense. The only answer is to stay hydrated, wear comfortable clothes, and look for air conditioning whenever you can. You will get used to it pretty soon and, believe it or not, you might even get to like it.

Best wishes, Razr. I hope you have a great year.
