Hi! I am currently a 9th grader at Choate and went through all of the same stress last year. I remember franticly being on CC and all of that process. So congratulations! You’re in! I made this so that if anyone has questions from an insider at Choate, I can answer them to the best of my ability. Congratulations to everyone!
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Any student/alum/parent/friend is welcome to answer questions as well.
*Sorry I meant to say that if anyone has any questions for someone who goes to Choate ask away! Or anyone who has any questions at all even if you weren’t a part of this current admissions cycle.
Hey,
I got waitlisted at Choate, and I really, really want to go there. You have no idea. Do you know how many people get off the waitlist, and do you have any advice on how to get off it?
Thank you!
I actually know a girl in my dorm who was at the very top of the wait list and ended up getting off of it. It is not impossible, but it is also very hard to get off of it I do not know how many people get off the waitlist simply because it changes each year depending on what the school needs. I definitely would suggest asking why you were waitlisted and build on their advice, and just out of curtesy send anyone who helped you with the process at Choate a thank you. There is no magic potion that you can take to get off the waitlist, but just wait and see what happens.
Are you applying as a freshman?@Kato2424
@Kato2424 Also keep in mind that if you don’t get into Choate this year, there is always the option os applying next year!
Thank you for the advice! Also, the girl who got off the waitlist, do you by a chance happen to know when she got off? In late March, or early April, or sometime in the summer?
I do not know, but I would assume in late march or midway through April simply because you have to make your decisions shortly after revisit day.
Hi everyone! I am also a current 9th grader at Choate and, just like OP, I remember March 10th on CC last year. Also I unfortunately realized too late that usernames can’t be changed on here lol… Anyway, you can ask me questions as well!!
Hi! I’m on the waitlist for Choate, and I was wondering if Choate ranks their waitlisted applicants? If they do, is there any way I can find out where I stand on the waitlist?
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Guys, let’s remember, the original poster is a student. Don’t ask questions about how many are on the waitlist, will I get off the waitlist, etc. The student will not know and you’re putting him/her in an uncomfortable position.
Ask questions about food, classes, EC opportunities, and other things about which a current student is knowledgeable.
I believe that they do rank their waitlisted applicants, and as to where you stand, I would suggest calling them to find out.
Another current Choate student sliding in here. I’m a current sophomore for those looking for a different perspective or for possible new sophomores.
My daughter was accepted to Choate and 6 other schools. I believe Choate will be where she lands. It was her top even though not declared. What do you love about Choate? What are some things you would want changed? How is the workload? How is the town and acceptance by the community of students?
@neuroticmama I love the people at Choate to be honest. You meet people from everywhere, and it helps give me a different perspectives on different topics. Honestly, I wish the food was better and that the school would talk about topics that affect the world around us( Like bombing in Paris and shooting in Colorado). But the school tries. The workload is a lot, but it does not seem very bad to me because I already had previous prep school experience in middle school. Opinions vary depending on your background. This sounds really cliche, but I truly love being at Choate.
@neuroticmama “How is the town and acceptance by the community of students?” I am confused by this question. Can you please elaborate?
@prepschoolhopes Perhaps you can answer thee question: How is the town and acceptance by the community of students?
Hey, I got into Choate and am torn between it and Deerfield, what do you think?
@Imyhyder I just PMed you.
Hi to anyone who sees this! Keep the questions coming! I am more than happy to answer the questions to the best of my ability.
