Well, I'm pretty sure my Princeton Review Practice Test is Wrong

Okay, so here's the question and possible answers:

Which of the following is the best variation of sentence 7 (reproduced below)?

The vibrant costumes, including the black leather jackets, reflected the 1950s, the time period Lurhmann uses.

A) The vibrant costumes and black leather jackets, reflected the 1950s, the time period Lurhmann uses.

B) The black leather jackets and other vibrant costumes echo the 1950s, the time period Lurhmann uses in his production.

C) Lurhmann uses black leather jackets and other vibrant costumes of the 1950s in his production to suggest the time period of the production.

D) The vibrant costumes, and jackets imitated those of those 1950s, the time period Lurhmann used in his production.

E) The black leather jackets and other vibrant costumes reproduced the time period of the 1950s, of which had been used in Lurhmann's production.

I chose C, because even though the repeated word "production" is unnecessary, it's the only one free of grammar mistakes.

In A, the verb "reflected" is in the wrong tense, since the rest of the essay is in the present tense. And the comma after 'jackets' is unneeded.

B should read, "The leather jackets and other vibrant costumes echo those worn in the 1950s, the time period Lurhmann uses in his production because the costumes echo the clothing worn in the 50s, not the 50s themselves.

In D, "those 1950s" is awkward and "used" needs to be in the present tense.

E is wrong in too many ways to list...

But anyway, the right answer is apparently B, but I don't agree, nor does my English teacher. What do you think? Thanks for the help.

At the first sight, I also picked C but after I re-read the question B sounds better because C even though it’s good denaturalize the original sentence.
I mean in the original, it’s clothes that are emphasized but C rather emphasize Lurhmann.
B is correct: there’s a complete sentence and then a description separated by a comma.
it avoids the too cut original sentence

You’re right the answer C is the more correct sentence but it completely changes the original meaning.
A: I didn’t the essay…
D: see above
E: seems awful (seem because I’m native I can’t really gauge the real value of words yet)

Bye and sorry for mistakes ;)

Yeah C changes the meaning of the sentence because C says he suggests the time period of production
