Well rounded?

i'm a junior in HS right now and I'm wanting to apply to Gtown, Boston College, Stanford, Harvard and maybe Middlebury. I want to either go pre-law or double major in psychology and economics. What do you think my chances are?

ECs:
Science Olympiad: i've been to two national tournaments, i've placed in the top 5 at state numerous times. Got 5th in one event and 11th in another at nationals. After doing it for 3 years, I quit my high school team and got a coaching position at my middle school. They got 2nd at state and the events i coached them in got 1st.

Debate: I've won one tournament, gotten semifinalists in a handful of them, and many quarterfinalist awards. I got 10th at state, i'm a 2nd alternate for nationals and i was 4th alternate last year as a novice. And I've got two letters in debate.

Various other Volunteer work, United Way, Red Cross etc.

i am looking at similar colleges as you do

BC and Mid are matches, GT could be depending on the program, Stanford and Harvard big reaches.

I wouldn't say "big reaches", just reaches...

I'm assuming white or Asian, non athlete (recruited), no national honors or clear hook with a 1380. Big reaches!

yeah, i'm asian

i dunno dude.. nothing stands out, cept your national 11th. im not sure if well rounded is good anymore, i have similar stats too. =T

I think people on CC often have a hard time with reality. So no one has yet posted on this thread that a 1380 puts you in range. Yup, there are pleanty of 1380s. Let's figure out who they are. Athletes, legacies, URMs, faculty kids, the very wealthy and the very famous, politician's kids and unusual talents. They are actually more than the 25% everyone quotes as the bottom of the range.

Then there's the rest of us who need to have higher than average scores (less than a 1500 at Harvard or Stanford is really going to get me in, my 1510 doesn't stand much of a hope!) to even be in the running, and then you need something to truly make you stand out from the other 10 qualified candidates for your spot.

Might want to look at some schools like Holy Cross or Colgate both very good schools with strong social life/athletic programs.

"I'm taking/taken AP Psych, AP Adv Psych"

???????????????????

BC IS CRAZY. I was on a retreat with an alumnus who graduated in 1992, he got in with a 92 average and a 1260 on his SAT's. Today I know a county track runner, who has a 92, and a 1390 on his sat's and he was rejected twice!

hmm, you are asian, and your name is wc3452
is there any chance that you play World of Warcraft? or Warcraft III?
