me too…it still says Early February
decisions should be out on feb 7th according to the release date last year!!!
@hiohbye @Anastasia523 SAME! I’ve checked it a million times already. I hope they update the date today
@hotpinkspraypaint I hope so. This wait is really setting me on the edge
@bookboozer me too! let’s stress together
@bookboozer omg thanks! arch’s cool as well, my counselor tried to persuade me into that major at the beginning haha! Weirdly I’m not anxious at all now lolll just super excited!
@vikiii I’d say I’m not nervous but I keep checking the portal for updates… idk what that would be
tbh at this point, I’m just impatient.
Awh… my counsellor wanted me to pursue computer science because that’s my strongest subject.
@bookboozer loll me too. I literally just checked it again!
My counsellor did NOT even want me to apply for Wellesley, saying something like I’m more of a Uni girl :)) but Wellesley’s a super selective place anyway (around 20% I remember) and it would be a great thing to be accepted out of the super competitive pool! btw feels like it could be a great place to do cs as well, you know with all those cross reg with mit! (not sure about dual degree tho)
@vikiii checking as I type here… anddd drumroll…it’s still Early Feb.
Oh wow! My counsellor was a little reluctant about letting me go to Wellesley too lol. He said I would flourish better in a big city. (I’m actually all for nature. Can we just appreciate how beautiful Wellesley is?! cries)
Yep! It’s actually 17% from last year and that’s super competitive considering the number of people that apply vs those that get accepted. I don’t think I’d want to pursue CS… I’m more of a creative/arts/design person but also want science and math… The MIT cross reg is SO cool! I hope we can get in and take advantage of all the good things that Wellesley offers crosses fingers
(If you can’t tell already I’m head over heels in love with Wellesley :)) )
Wow! CS and arch both sound really interesting, and hard-core. I’m wondering if there’s anyone applying to Biology here. My counselor told me the major biology is extremely competitive basically everywhere…(filled with highly focused and ambitious “premeds”)
I applied to Wellesley partially for its all-women environment and sisterhood, and my counselor thinks it’s probably not such a good “fit” for me since I have too many “bros” and very few female friends at school…?
@Anastasia523 WOW! Biology sounds like an awesome major!! (It probably does have a bunch of premeds). I don’t think you have a lot to worry about because we aren’t really applying to a major. They’re going to look at us in a well-rounded manner
The fact that it’s a women’s college pushed me to apply in the first place. I think it’s just so cool that I would be able to work with other women who are intellectual and want to empower other women! Awhh! I feel like all our counsellors felt the exact opposite of what we did ?
For me personally, it is because my counsellor knows I’m first-gen + I’m an international student so he probably felt that I should go to a place that mimics my current environment (mostly). Here’s the thing though I do live in a city but it really isn’t as huge as the cities in the US (or so I’d think) and I’d prefer being in a quiet campus where I can still be in reach of the city easily compared to in the middle of a busy, noisy city.
I’m curious now… What about Wellesley made you want to apply? And what is your intended major?
@ Everyone
I’d ask where you are from but idk if everyone’s okay with answering that one
Omgggg I’m so glad I found this thread, I’ve been tearing my hair out waiting to hear from Wellesley!!! Honestly the minute it turned to February I nearly jumped out of my skin and then remembered that because of time zones it wasn’t even feb in Boston until 13 hours later… oops! Will the results EVER come???
@bookboozer I’m from Florida and I applied to Wellesley because of the all-women environment! I thought along the same lines you did about how awesome it’d be to work with such amazing and intelligent women! I also got the privilege to visit in the fall (thanks to a generous travel grant from Wellesley ) and it was BEAUTIFUL. The weather, the school, the town right outside Wellesley, everything was so pretty and aesthetic. I love cold weather! I honestly believe Wellesley has the perfect environment for me, both academically wise and the overall area. I’m also first-gen!
My intended majors are Psychology and Spanish!
@hrsvery718 Honestly SAMEEE! I’m 8hrs ahead of Boston and it’s annoying to keep remembering that they are probably sleeping when I wake up. I feel like it may not be this week because they haven’t even updated the decision date yet (I’m really hoping it is though) Good luck to you!! <3
@KattianaKitty Ooh nice! It’s so cool that you got to visit!! Wahhh now I’m even more excited to get to see it live for the first time. I’m from Tanzania and I’m really excited to be able to experience all the diversity at Wellesley (IF I get accepted of course :|) #FirstGenFam
Wow! Those majors seem awesome! Psychology is something I’ve always been interested in (but I study in the Cambridge curriculum and you can only take a maximum of 3 subjects :()
Also I literally just checked the portal for like the 10th time today and it’s around 8.30 pm for me…
Hi all! I’m not ED II (I’m doing EE) but this thread is more lively than the RD one haha. If I get in, I really want to major in International Relations-Political Science. I absolutely adore the campus; my best friend actually goes to one of the high schools in Wellesley and I’ve gone to visit a few times so I’m pretty familiar with the area even though I live on the west coast. I can barely concentrate at school. I’m way too focused on wondering when the decisions will be released and what will happen if I do/don’t get in ?
Hey @aryamilka That’s cool! Quite a few of my friends are planning to do something along those lines! It seems really interesting! Oooh, that’s nice! Hahaha, same… it’s all I seem to think about these days… I hope they at least update the decision date soon if not the decision itself. I’d like to prepare myself to some extent
Every time I open the portal hoping to see a date posted and I come across this:
Check your portal for your admission decision in early February.
:-w
Never wanted ANYTHING more than this.
@bookboozer thank you!! Good luck to you too!! And yeah I agree, judging from what everyone else said my guess is it’ll probably come out around the 9th or something just gotta keep waiting in agony I guess aaaagh
btw just hopping on the self-intro train, i’m really interested in psych and English as my majors, but i also love creative writing, filmmaking, & women’s studies!! i was lucky enough to visit campus last summer too and it is STUNNING. everyone was so nice. the diversity, community & student involvement were huge yeses for me when i applied. also, I would totally look forward to popping into Boston on weekends just to go walk around, if i’m lucky enough to get in. eeep!
@hrsvery718 Thanks! ugh yes… I already checked my portal again (it’s still the same) :))
I feel like emailing them and asking if they really will release the decision anytime soon. My stomach keeps doing somersaults
exactly. AAAAAAAGH
Ooh nice!! I was thinking of religion or women’s studies or film as a minor (pretty vague I know but I just like everything I guess) Wow! You guys are lucky I wish I would’ve been able to visit
Yeppp! That’s such a good thing that Wellesley is just less than an hour away from Boston.
And can we please appreciate Lake Waban? It steals my breath away and I haven’t even seen it in real life. I feel like I’d happy cry like crazy if I got in.
(I keep talking like I’m already in so I have to keep editing this stuff lol)
I don’t know if anyone has seen this video before but if you haven’t, go look up “This Is The Place” on Youtube. It’s a ten-minute Wellesley promo vid that brings tears to my eyes because of how beautiful it is.
Also, @hrsvery718 I absolutely LOVE creative writing too! I mostly write satire though.
@aryamilka YAASSS! I’ve seen it!! (I literally watched all the Wellesley related videos as soon as I completed my application)
