Wellesley housing question

This might sound kind of silly - but I was just wondering...do any of the newer dorms have wood floors? I have allergy problems and I do better in a room that isn't carpeted. Is it usually the older dorms that have wooden floors, or do some of the newer ones (Bates, McAfee etc.) have those also? Should I just request an older dorm? Thanks.

The newer dorms do have carpets, I’m sorry to say. But at Wellesley “newer” means built in the early 1950s, and for their architecture and location most people prefer the older dorms anyway (Tower, Claflin, Severance, Beebe, Caz, Pom, Shafer, and Munger all have wood floors). In general first-year students are not able to request dorms, but if your allergies are especially severe they might make an accommodation for you.

Claflin, Severance, Lake, Stone/Davis, Freeman, Bates, McAfee all have carpet. If you have allergies that mean you cannot live in a carpeted space, you’ll be able to be housed in the non-carpeted residence halls.

The college is seriously overcrowded bc they over accepted last year and fewer students could afford junior year abroad. Its a nightmare.

It really isn’t a nightmare, nor would I say that the college is “seriously overcrowded”. Last semester was unfortunate (the college had to house some students at a nearby campus), but the worst is over, and it isn’t like there are people sleeping in common rooms or anything. There have always been fluctuations in the number of on-campus students that have caused housing to be tighter at some times than others. The current first-year class is larger than was hoped, but I’m sure the powers that be compensated for it during the current admissions season.

Latin, the year I applied as a transfer student to Mount Holyoke, Mount Holyoke had a housing crunch too. (Like at Wellesley, it was because more first years enrolled than they expected). The bigger than usual first year class just shows how so many people find Wellesley amazing and worth attending.

With fewer transfer students and a smaller incoming first year class, housing will probably end up as “normal” as it ever was.

Latin, it saddens me, first, that all your posts about Wellesley are so negative and also that you are attending a school where you are very unhappy. I hope that you either are able to find something at Wellesley that changes your opinions or that you are able to transfer to another school where your life will be happier.

My guess is that Latin Lover was rejected or something like that and is bitter. I doubt she’s even at Wellesley. She only seems to pop up when decision letters are being sent out. I smell a ■■■■■…

Ignore Latin, she’s a ■■■■■. All of her posts are anti-Wellesley.
