Wellesley received a record 5,700+ applicants for the class of 2021, +17% YoY increase from last year.
The record number of applicants plus the addition of Early Decision II this year would make the Regular Decision/Early Evaluation acceptance rate more competitive than ever. Assuming the class size remained around 590, the overall Class of 2021 acceptance rate will likely be below 25%.
Application statistics:
2021: 5,700 (+17% YoY growth) -> approx 25% (or less) admitted??
2020: 4,888 (+6% YoY growth) -> 28% admitted
2019: 4,623 (-2% YoY decline) -> 30% admitted
2018: 4,710 (-2% YoY decline) -> 30% admitted
2017: 4,795 (+5% YoY growth) -> 29% admitted
I wonder what the main driver for increased applicants was…the Hillary effect?
