<p>Wellesley's overall acceptance rate is given as 36%... according to my calculations, 136/206 ED applications = a 66% ED acceptance rate, so if the given rate of 36% is an average of ED and RD that would make RD... 6%... and that would be insane. </p>
<p>I'm so confused! Please help me? Is my math all wrong? Or are those the actual numbers? Or is that not how the overall acceptance rate is calculated?</p>
<p>No, I think what throws your math off is the fact that the class size is about 600 students. This year, 108 ED students were accepted (out of about 230), but this is only 18% of the total class, so most of the class is made up of non-ED students.</p>
<p>Using the info from Wellesley's site, last year 3,964 people applied, so 3,758 people applied RD. 1,429 people were accepted, so 1,293 people were accepted RD. Using those numbers, 34% of people were accepted RD, which seems much more reasonable.</p>
