wellesley vs swarthmore for ibanking

which school offers more opportunities with internships/recruitments etc? where is the econ dept. more acclaimed?

thankyou(:

I think either one will be a good choice. Just pick the one you like better.

I'd second that. Both excellent choices.

Although, that's probably not what you want to hear right now...

For i-banking Wellesley. It places better than Swarthmore.

really? Better than 4 people in one class at mcKinsey? Also, the better students at swat are probably more likely to go to grad school... doesn't mean those who want ibanking have a hard time getting it. Maybe more instructive to look at the numbers at 2nd tier or less selective ibanking jobs.

It is true that Swarthmore produces future Economics PhDs at a staggering rate. 1.6% of all Swarthmore graduates over a recent 10 year period went on to complete a PhD in Economics. That is by far the highest percentage of any college or university in the country, more than double the rate of the next closest. See below.

Swarthmore is also the #1 producer of future Poli Sci PhDs. and #1 in all Social Science PhDs.

big deal, i hear haverford just got a new microscope so now they have the best science department in pennsylvania, no, change that, best in america, no, better yet, best in the galaxy.

doesn't anyone think that the college has little influence in whether or not the individual wants to attain PhD status? The people at Swarthmore are driven, its not that the classes as Swarthmore drive people to obtain a PhD is social sciences. If you are motivated, any top tier college will provide you the means to succeed in that respected field.

There are "nature" and "nurture" aspects to Swarthmore's somewhat unique academic experience.

A big part of the recipe is that the students have a high degree of respect for the professors and the professors have a high degree of respect for the students. This allows them to challenge, chide, and cajole each other in ways that are mutually rewarding.
