We're done

marite - as one who has benefited from your insights - many thanks to you and many congrats to your S!

congrats! I hope he really enjoys Harvard!

Congrats! Whew!

Marite -

Wow, congratulations! I am currently in Japan and almost missed out on all the CC fun. If there ever were a kid I would be tempted to to answer "In" in response to a Harvard chances post, it would have been your son.

Good job!

Soozie:

I'm hoping for great news for your D, too! I know that for her, it is even tougher than for my S, but she is so talented and resilient. She really has what it takes to succeed in college and beyond.
We'll find out eventually whether S wants to bring home his laundry. Years in summer camps have trained him to do his own when not at home. When he is, I have to pick it up from the floor if it's dirty, and put it away myself when it's clean. Good thing he will be required to live in dorms. But he is on notice that he can be summoned home regularly to mow the lawn. :)

Marite--congratulations! And how nice for you that he'll be in Cambridge!

Marite

Congratulations to you and your family.

See what happens because I did not check in when I got home last night. But you were on my mind this morning so I am checking in an missing the express bus, but it is all good.

It's great that he's going away but not too far away, so much for thinking that he would tire of Harvard after spending so much time there. Now there will be no excuse for hem to come home every now and then for dinner.

What a great holiday gift!! It is only fitting that because you have graciously shared your insight and wisdom with so many that such a great blessing come back to your house.

All the best :) :) :)

Soozie, all the best to your second daughter as well!! Can't wait to hear her news!!

Congratulations to your son and your family, Marite! He'll be close to home too:)

Marite, I just read this on the other thread, but I can say a bigger congrats again here. Well, like everyone else, I'm not too surprised, but still--Wow!!!

OK, I'm a little disappointed...I thought maybe we could do a double/double with the kids, but I did realize that my S's school was lower on your S's radar. :)

Anyway, I am just so glad...you've been such an important presence on these boards, and helped so many others. Big, big smiles here!!!!

Garland:

Thanks. Columbia was high on S's radar; it was the thought of living in NYC that gave him pause. I think he felt that the Boston/Cambridge area was the right size for him.

Congratulations to you and your son Marite!

marite: Congrates to you and your son. Since fin aid is not an issue, that is a very good decision. Keep us guiding :)

Chinaman...did your son apply early anywhere ? I can't recall. I know he is a standout applicant.

Susan

soozievt:

He did apply to Yale, Still no official decision. But there is an indication that he will be doing a research with a panel of law professors and he will be paid for this. Apart from college decision and after senior year, he wants to take a break for peace corp and work in Africa for 6-9 months.

Chinaman, I look forward to hearing how things turn out for your son. I have confidence that he will go to a great college and do great things. He sounds like a remarkable young man. Keep us posted.
