Yes, Mike said the second wave of letters would be mailed out at the end of this week. Not sure if that means Thursday or Friday… but they’re on their way. Or shortly will be.

I knew they would be coming out soon so today when I heard the mail come I raced downstairs to get it. I was so excited when I saw the big white packet in the pile…until I flipped it over and saw that it was from Geico. :(

so will it appear to be in STEP 5 for those whose decision letters are mailed?

I received my acceptance in the first wave, but I was not in Step 5 online for about another week after I received the mailing. They don’t want to ruin the excitement of getting the letter unexpectedly in the mail by informing you that it’s coming ahead of time…

With all this talk about a second wave of letters, imagine our disappointment when my son returned from the mail box this morning and nothing! Oh well… :(

About an hour later, a man drove up our driveway. No one in the family recognized him. Apparently, he lives in a different neighborhood, several streets away from us. We share the same house number with completely different street names. He handed me an envelope saying “… this came to my house by mistake, and I thought you might want it.”

What a thrill! Accepted!!! Not only that, but as others have mentioned, the letter was extremely personalized to my son, citing his interests and the subject of his essay. Very nice touch!

Now we wait for the all important second shoe to drop…Financial Aid award notice! Stay tuned!

Adkdad - congrats! What a great story (and a nice neighbor!)

Adkdad,

Congrats!! Which state are you in?

Thanks! We are in New York.

Thank you very much. We are in NJ, still waiting.

Still waiting in Pennsylvania.

I got my acceptance today in the mail! I’m from just outside of Rochester, so I’m sure a lot of people will be hearing from this wave of acceptances within the next week (so don’t lose hope!).

U of R is awesome; I feel like the only remotely negative thing about it is that if I went I’d have to be in Rochester for another 4 years. I haven’t received an NROTC scholarship yet, which is really really killing me, but if I get one, I’d have a full ride and have the chance to be a naval aviator, serve my country, and be in a leadership position straight out of college. It’s gonna be a tough choice come April…

I live in Los Angeles and still did not get my letter, does that mean I will be on next wave?

They don’t send email? I am an international student and have not received anything.

cliffordwu… Usually we do not send e-mails. For some international students we may make an exception as the deadline approaches.

adkdad… Congrats! Sounds like a bit of an emotional ride.

collegexc1993… Congrats and good luck with the NROTC scholarship - what a great opportunity that is.

Hi, MConklin, so are those second wave letters all sent out? I am in Los Angeles and still waiting.

My daughter just got home from school, checked the mailbox and send me a picture message with a yellowjacket on a large package… Welcome to University of Rochester. She is thrilled to say the least. Now I just need to keep my fingers crossed for Financial Aid. She already picked out which date she wants to attend for accepted students. Oh happy day!

Congrat!! Which state are you in? Thanks.

My son got his big envelope today in central PA. Yay! Postmarked 3/11

Yes… to confirm, the second wave went out on Friday the 11th. Congrats to those who heard today and good luck to those still waiting!
