Wes ED2

Hi there!
So for my senior year I applied ED to Middlebury. I really loved the campus and it had everything I was looking for in a college. Midd is really competitive and there’s obviously a huge chance I won’t get in. I’ve been researching some of the other small LAC’s in New England and I think that I may have overlooked Wesleyan. Middlebury was the first school I toured and I fell for it. I never toured Wesleyan and it’s made me wonder, maybe if I had toured it first I would’ve completely fallen for it and decided it was the school for me. It made me feel like maybe I should have ED’d to Wes. One of my best friends applied ED1 to Wes and got deferred to ED2 and then accepted. I was curious if ED2 has the same sort of advantage as ED1. Some schools ED2 is really popular, but not as much for other schools. Regular admission statistics are really daunting, so if I don’t get in ED1, I don’t want to waste my ED2 and I think Wes would be a wonderful place to spend my next four years.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Wes tends to get buried beneath a host of LACs with more of that “New England prep school” feeling you were looking for. It has more of an urban vibe even though Middletown itself is not much bigger than Burlington or Northampton. Its student body is slightly more diverse, nerdy and significantly more arty than Midd, Bowdoin, or Williams. Think of it as a somewhat smaller version of Brown University in Providence, RI: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_University

I agree that it would make an ideal ED2 choice for people who have had the time to examine it a bit more closely by January 1st.
