wesleyan academics

i hear it's hard to get into some classes.
are academics really intense?

I hope the academics are intense, or what's the point of going there? Intense but with time to chill in between, that is.

not that hard to get into classes. if you want it bad enough, chances are you'll get in.
academics- that depends. some classes are, some aren't. but let me tell you, the intense ones will hit you like a train so you better be ready.
and of course we have time to chill. well not really, but we chill anyway and by some miracle still end up doing well :)

i mean i've already decided on wes but still i'm curious:
to current wes student, would u RAVE about your classes and professors?! or are they good but not great? or great but not amazing?

It really depends on the class. If you're taking a reading or writing intensive class, prepare to work an incredible amount, especially if you're not a very fast writer. Math and science classes don't have much homework (typical is a single problem set per week), but can be difficult come test time.

It's generally not hard to get into a class if you're persistent, though it depends on the professor. For the most part, it's not a problem.

As for quality of professors and classes, I currently have three amazing professors and one mediocre one, though I'm not sure how representative that is. Without a doubt, there are many great, dedicated teachers here.

I have had a full range of professor quality, and regardless most classes are intense.

suffice it to say, though, I have had some truly AMAZING professors so far, many not even in my major.
