Deaston: Excuse me? Obnoxious? I am objective. The difference is in the interpretation of my “advice”, which is subjective. My admissions decision would not be based on this “advice” I give to others so your superficial attempt to discourage me from applying was made in vain.

Thanks, clearwater123.

Just a word on “similar schools.” Although there is a body of thought that Vassar and Wes (and Oberlin and Brown too) are similar, and they are for many people, it really just depends on what attracts you to Wes (or the others) and for you they may or may not be similar in ways that matter. You really have to do your own research. For my S (who applied and was accepted ED1 to Wes), he visited but did not care enough for Vassar or Oberlin to apply to either – which is in no means meant as a slight on those very fine schools. What drew him to Wes (and God knows he loves it there like he’s found nirvana) was the combination of a very intellectual atmosphere and a non-competitive, “accepting” of differences culture. He is not at all a hipster, and is only “quirky” in the sense that he’s an outspoken, brainy (read, “nerdy”) character, so a strong “hipster” vibe at some of these other schools was not in itself a draw, and in some ways a turn-off. For him, among the colleges he seriously considered were Berkeley, the liberal arts college at U. of Michigan, Swarthmore, Tufts, Brown and Kenyon. So as you consider other schools, consider at the core what (you think) draws you to Wes, and you may find there are unexpected options that are attractive to you.

thanks! great response! what does your s think of wesleyan now?

Is anyone else furiously stalking Wesleyan in any manner they can?? Maybe it’s just me
Makes rejection all the more painful.

of course. right now its kind of nice knowing that you’re not rejected yet… because it’s gonna really suck if that happens

I feel the same way. And I can’t bear to tell all my teachers and friends who are all expecting me to get in that I got rejected/deferred.

same. i feel like a deferral would be worse than a rejection. i mean at least you can move on afterwards

same @clearwater123

all my guidance counselors and friends/family are like “you are definitely going to get in” and my parents are like “dont worry we have a good feeling”. i just really dont wanna face the sadness of rejection
so lets all hope for the best on dec 13.

Why can’t they at least tell us the exact date
The website says by the 15th but I was emailing a lady there and she said on the 15th so which one is it???

Also, I feel that no one thinks admission to Wesleyan is that difficult just because the ED acceptance rate is high.

it’ll prob be the 13th or the 14th

i dont think thats true because if you look at wesleyans median scores they are quite high and just cause their ed rate is high doesnt mean its necessarily easier to get into. you’re still competing with incredibly just-as-qualified kids as you. it’s all about “fitting”. and im pretty sure itll be the 13th because thats the friday before the 15th.

luckily the enrolled students test scores are a bit lower than the admitted ones… but yeah and then there’s also the legacies, athletes, etc.

I know it’s not easy but everyone I’ve talked to thinks it is and that’s why they all expect me to get in. Admission is hard and I’m floundering in a pile of mediocreness!

yeah im also super concerned i dont have a 4th year of language which 80% of applicants do. but i have good scores and i would say exceptional ECs so im hoping all the good outweighs the one FL. also i go to a rigorous performing arts school where i have to take 3 music classes a day so i think that will outweigh the one foreign language.

i just want the process to be over with!

18 more days! looking forward to getting the online notification date email. still have to do supplements… anybody finish?

u mean arts/writing supplements? those were due the 15 for wes.

oh sorry! i meant supplements for other schools haha

I LOVE WES THERE ARE NO OTHER SCHOOLS ahH
