Wesleyan To Partner with Veterans Group

The Admission office has also launched a section on the Wesleyan website dedicated to veterans. There prospective veteran students will find resources and financial aid information. The University will also soon make available a veteran-specific undergraduate application that accommodates varied circumstances.

“A custom application will allow our team to appropriately consider translatable military and life experiences as part of our holistic review of each veteran applicant,” (Vice-President and Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid) Gonzalez said.

This is in addition to the fact that they have a Posse Veterans program.

They just replaced it with their own program this spring.

This latest program initiative is meant to replace the Posse Partnership:

There are currently three universities in the veterans’ program: Case Western Reserve and Texas A&M Universities, and the University of Virginia.
Deborah Bial, president of Posse, said the program has evolved over the years. “Some colleges joined and some have left,” she said.
During the pandemic, she said, travel difficulties made it hard to recruit for the program.

Well of course they would. It seems Wes and Vassar are alike in a number of ways, with architecture one notable exception.

If the NESCAC ever had a notion to expand, I suspect that Vassar would be among the top targets. They’d fit right in.

I agree with you about Vassar. I think they would find athletic competition in the NESCAC a notch tougher across the board. But no doubt Vassar is a natural fit for NESCAC notwithstanding that they are not technically located in New England (along with Hamilton).
