Wesleyan University and Colorado College are my top choices. I've been to both schools and found out that I like CC more than Wes and CC's block plan is just awesome! I am so excited to go to CC and almost choose CC over Wes, but recently many people suggested me to go for Wes because of its reputation and prestige and that Wes would benefit me in the long run. And what is CC's reputation is like in the US? I'm an international and people around me don't seem to know much about CC.

Where should I go? I have really come to a dead end and need to response with in a few days. Any input would be appreciated!

I have a kid at CC and a niece who graduated from Wesleyan. They are both good liberal arts colleges.

Wesleyan is a little larger, somewhat more selective, and ranked higher (#12 v. #26) by US News. I don’t know how significant any of that really should be to you. If you preferred CC and you think you would thrive on the Block Plan, those are good reasons to choose it. I think the CC location (mountain setting, sunny climate) is far more desirable.

What majors are you considering? If they include Geology, I’d say definitely pick CC. If they include Anthropology, Biology, or Environmental Science, I’d say you can be very comfortable choosing CC. It has a strong pre-med program ([Colorado College | Bulletin](http://www.coloradocollege.edu/bulletin/march2005/healing.asp)). I’ve heard negatives about Physics at CC; I’d expect that to be very good at Wesleyan.

Most American LACs are not well-known abroad. Colorado College is probably the best school in Colorado (or #2, closely behind the Air Force Academy). It is the best LAC for hundreds of miles around, in a very desirable region to live and work after college.

Thank you for the response! And yes, I’m in to Geology, Environmental Science field. One more thing, I heard some bad things about career opportunities for CC graduates. Are CC graduates competitive in the market?

I really have no basis to compare the two schools in that respect. I suppose it depends on what market we’re talking about. Many LAC students go on to graduate school. If you don’t, then I’d expect your internship and work experience to matter much more in the USA than any difference in name recognition between Wesleyan and CC.

You could email the admissions office to request information about internships and post-graduation career outcomes for Geology or Environmental Science majors.

Go with your gut on this one
