I plan on applying to Cate, Thacher, Webb, and Stevenson. Can you give me any info on these? Also, how rare is full financial aid? I really, really want boarding school, more than anything, but we simply can not afford it. Everyone is telling me that there is no way they are going to give full FA. But I don't want to give up. Anything I can do to increase my chances? Thanks!

There is a way that they’re going to give full FA. Not many, but some do get it.

Depends on how much the school wants you.

Cate - Pretty campus, under 300 people
Thacher - Horses, also under 300
Webb - 400ish students

Check the websites and alumni reviews as well; those will help.

There are scholarships and the occasional applicant who will receive full financial aid. Having a realistic outlook is good, but so is having hope. Be determined, make a good impression, blow the applications out of the water, and have a safety is all of my advice. That’s basically what you need to do to get full financial aid, as frustrating as that sounds, and still keep in mind that many other factors out of your control will play into the decision.

There really is no such thing as a safety when you need lots of aid.

Thank you guys for the info. It’s just I want it so bad! I’m learning french and I’m beginning piano here soon. For me to work hard, then have my entire family tell me that they won’t accept me is incredibly frustrating. I know they are trying to prepare me, but it’s disheartening.

They’re trying to temper your expectations. And they should be tempered.

I know exactly how you feel. Good luck. :x

I know, but I remain hopeful. And Thank you! Is your username from the book “star-girl”? I love that book.

@YoungVolcanoes That is definitely part of it! :)

I attend Stevenson and I will be an upcoming sophmore next year and it’s a great school!
Ask me specific questions and I will be able to answer those.

@stargirl3 I read that book in 4th grade and have loved it ever since!
@Pirates17 Here are some questions:
How tough is the workload? Is there time for socializing on the weekends? What are the sports like? Are the kids generally accepting? And what is the atmosphere like? Thank you so much!
