I found no threads for class of 2021. Anyone else have kids deciding on this school. My son got in with a generous scholarship and honors. Loved the campus. My brother, sister and nephew went there. But, he also got into some higher tiered engineering schools. Any thoughts?
I’m going here
What are you planning to study?
Anyone else have a kid deciding between WVU and other colleges? My son is engineering.
Hello, My hubby graduated from WVU (Engineering '93). He loved WVU and our son is enrolled as a freshman at
WVU (Fall 2017). My hubby has been very successful and WVU has a great engineering program. All of his friends that also majored in engineering are doing very well. Some of my hubby’s friends have engineering degrees from Penn State, Pitt and Purdue and they are all working for major corporations. Salary wise my hubby makes the most. We are big WVU alumni so we are not surprised our son chose WVU. Best of luck to your son.
Our son is enrolled WVU Fall 2017, so excited!
Thanks for the info. WVU will be by far the least expensive and he’ll be in the honors college. He could graduate with very little debt if any. The other schools he is waiting to hear from are very expensive and not as strong regarding merit aid. We plan to visit again for Decide WVU Day on March 25th.
Our son is accepted for Fall 2017 also.
How long did it take to get your decision? Son applied quite some time ago (mid Jan?) and still hasn’t heard. With rolling admission, seems like we should have heard by now.
It was about 3-4 weeks. Financial aid cam about a week after that.
What did your son decide?
Our son attended the Decision Day in March and met his two roomies and they toured their 3 bedroom apt (Seneca Hall ) open to freshman this year. His one roommate is in the Honors college and the other is an engineering major.
He decided to go to RIT.
WVU is back on DD2 radar… she is looking at PA and VA but so far the line up are all much smaller than she wants so WVU is on our College Road Trip #2 route. We will be there in Late October. We were in town last year but did not tour the college as we were heading to Ohio to explore LAC’s there. Out of State with 3.6 and 1300 SAT … exploring enough merit to knock down some of that OOS …
Out of State merit scholarships are fairly straight forward at WVU. Basically three levels; dependent on GPA and standardized test score. For a 3.6 and 1300, she would receive $9,000/year from the University. Depending on her major, she may receive additional money from the college. This puts her in the middle tier of OOS scholarships.
A lot of info if you Google WVU non-resident scholarships or go to their financial aid site. Good Luck.
