I know that Western Connecticut has a BA in Musical Theater and that the program is fairly new. They also just moved into a new Performing Arts facility. There is very little mentioned about them here. Can anyone give me some insights as to the overall program and the quality and reputation of the program. From what I see, it looks pretty good. My daughter is considering it as an option.

I found the program sheet here: http://www.wcsu.edu/academics/programsheets/default.asp?school=svpa
I find it helpful to look at the actual classes they’ll be taking and compare them with other schools.
Understanding the difference between BFA’s and BA’s is important. Most BA’s are good on Theatre, but light on voice and dance, because they include a lot of Gen Ed. requirements. Just can’t fit em all in.

But like you said, its a new program, so it won’t be a popular choice here. But that truly doesn’t matter.
If it makes sense for your D, because …its close to home?..she likes the campus and the rest of the school? …she met and likes the teachers? …its affordable? …she has friends there… whatever the reason. Its really just a personal choice in seeking the right fit for her.

Since it is an audition program, I think everyone here would agree to apply at multiple places. You never know how an audition will go. Have a bunch of schools with varying programs AND a non-audition safety school just in case.
