Basically which one is better (academics, financial aid, student life, etc.)? I know it's a broad question but I'm trying to decide between the two so any input would be appreciated.

Pepperdine has a better academic reputation. Also, look into Wheaton near Chicago if your not opposed to the midwest and want a protestant-christian environment.

I disagree that Pepperdine has a better academic reputation, though it is true that Westmont is smaller than Pepperdine so you hear less about it.

But I would say Pepperdine has a superior study abroad program. It really is excellent.

I live in the general area and know many students who go to each school. My take on it is, both schools are good. Pepperdine’s version of Christianity is slightly more conservative, but you get a mix of students who are drawn to the glitzy Malibu area, so in some ways students’ faiths can be more superficial. There is, in general, more money at Pepperdine.

Westmont is smaller - half the number of undergraduates - and feels even smaller in comparison because Pepperdine has graduate students. It is too small for some.

I think, in general, Westmont students take their faith more seriously. Westmont, IMO, really focuses on nurturing the faiths of the students. Not that Pepperdine doesn’t, but Westmont has less of the superficial aspects.

If you want parties, you will find more in the Pepperdine vicinity.

Another (similar) school is Point Loma Nazarene.
