What was your first impression of MIT?

I thought it was dingy and cramped and plain-looking.

And wanted in.

I felt amazingly nerdy at how much I loved the architecture. The 30-60-90 triangle building, the perfect fraction of a sphere (is it 1/4, 1/6, or 1/8?), the Gehry STATA building, EVERYTHING!

1/8!

...

I realy liked it...that is until I visited another campus. I too liked all the acrchetecture, and i thought that the chappel was realy cool. Though now that I think back alot of it did look crappy lol.

But like pebbles, I WANT IN!!!

The insides of most buildings were amazing. MIT Media Lab comes to mind.

Oh ya, and the grassy areas were perfect for a nice time off to ... study, what else??

I like the crappy weather.... :D

I loved the architecture. In fact, I disliked Princeton and Harvard, they looked too faux-homogeneous. I mean you can see that the buildings were all built at different times, but they tried to make them somehow similar, and that only makes them look mismatched. MIT, on the other hand, is not ashamed of evolving.

I was standing in the Green building's corner and felt the man made wind tunnel. I thought that was pretty awesome.

It kind of reminded me of when I was born.

I <3 MIT.

Ah, the New England weather. I personally think it's amazing, but then again, I am the type of person that likes rainy days ;)

I loved the cool buildings as well. The buildings that spell out MIT. I stayed in Simmons hall which is an interesting spectacle in and of itself. I love how compact it is relatively. Everything was awesome.

i thought the architecture was pretty funky (in a good way), except this one dorm that looked like a cement block with holes for windows... that was funky in a bad way.

I first heard of it when I was in 8th grade when my dad said "One of my friends son got admitted to MIT". At the time I thought US universities were ppl who failed to go to top-schools in their home country.

Many years ago that is also the general sentiment of the people in my country.
