I was accepted into Wharton, but I am leaning towards a future profession in the entertainment industry. I was just curious as to how many people from Wharton pursue this path during and after college and if they are successful.

As far as the business in the entertainment industry, would Wharton or USC be a better choice, and in what ways?

i have a friend who just got his "media and entertainment" concentration approved (he also happens to own a record label)...

one would presume, however, that proximity to LA would be beneficial to the entertainment industry (then again, proximity to NYC might provide the same benefits)...

also, the cfo of bad boy entertainment spoke here last week; he certainly has a high position in the industry...

i'd say that the general wharton education / penn experience provides the business knowledge, social / professional network, and undergraduate experience that would prepare you for any business-related career , entertainment or otherwise.

Thanks! That really helped. This is a further general question to anyone who has an answer. As far as theater goes in Penn, how extensive is it...I heard there isn't a specific theater program - is that true?

I'm in Wharton and on the entertainment track too. There's a LOT of stuff to get involved in... i.e.: undergraduate media & entertainment club, social planning & events committee.... there really is something for everyone here.

I'll check in later on AIM if you want to talk more about it.
Congrats on getting into Penn!
