Wharton Calculus Problem

Hey, So I missed a month of school due to a car accident, i was in the hospital for 2 weeks, and then recovery, so i had to drop 4 of my 6 AP classes. AP Calculus BC Included.
So my questions are..

Will they still consider my application if im taking calc at my local CC starting late january? I think it has a midterm grade, and my counselor and math teacher are writing about it in their letters. I took Precalc with Trig last year and got an A if that matters

And will Upenn look down upon me for dropping the classes? I know it was the only choice i could do, but will they look at other people instead because of this?

AND Im applying for a Retail Major, is that field any less competitive, i feel like it would be less competitive than finance, or is it just wharton in general thats competitive.

Thanks, and on the website it says all applicants must have Calculus... I can also take the AP exam, other than that Im an URM with amazing retail excs.

I wish you a continued speedy recovery!! Have you thought about taking a “gap” year?

I think it may be too tough for you to cram in all the preparation that you need for Wharton into a shortened senior year. Freshman year at Wharton is very challenging, so perhaps you can manage to re-take the classes you were forced to drop this year in a gap year next year.

good luck!

Thank you for the quick response. I wish that was possible but I don’t think it is. I only dropped IB Math Studies, IB Environmental Systems, AP Comparative Government, and Calc. I think Calculus is the only one of those classes I really need. I’m fine now with All A’s in everything, and I think Calculus wouldn’t be too hard.

Penn is very understanding. My son had to drop 3 AP classes last year due to a medical problem and still was accepting early decision to Penn. His guidance counselor contacted the regional admin rep from our geography and let them know what happened. Then, once he was accepted we just had to send a second letter and a copy of his transcripts to remind them and then show proof he finished his revised schedule. If you need any further information on the details you can pm me and I’ll be glad to talk about it. Again, the key takeaway is if they want you they will be understanding.

Thank you so much! Pennforme
