Wharton is a lot better in terms of a social life compared to the other ivies, i think. It has a lot more people that effectively use communication than say Harvard. Other top ivies have extremely single minded people, and i dont mean this as a bad thing. They are just really focused on one thing that they are amazing at. Therefore, they might not be very communicative. Many at Harvard are social, but I dont think as many as in Wharton. Im guessing that the sports jocks at Harvard are very social, as well as some very smart individuals who have balanced their lives with fun and hard work. Wharton people, however, as far as I have seen, are well-rounded social people, that are just plain fun to be around with.

Wharton kicks ass, period.

Wharton and Cornel(AEM in the Agricultural and Life Sciences school(not sure why it's in that school, but anyway the business program was finally ranked this year b/c it's relatively new, and it got a really good ranking). l are the only Ivies that have undergrad business programs.

MIT does too

MIT isn't an Ivy League school.

The Daily Pennsylvanian just won the Pacemaker Award (the Pullitzer Prize of sorts for college journalists). The Harvard Crimson won the same award. While the Crimson may look like a good newspaper from the outside, it has been known to struggle with inaccuracies. To say that the Crimson is "frankly much better" than the Daily Pennsylvanian seems like an assumption based on cosmetic appeal rather than a fact-based comparison.

Sorry to ask again, but here in Korea, not a lot of people are aware of Wharton and its prestige. Reputation-wise, Harvard is king here. I wonder, is it different in America? Do people go "wow" when you say you're from Wharton?

the average person doesn't really know but the important people do.

I worked at UBS last summer and I read in a memo that had all the new people hired that 25 of the 140 hired were from wharton. The next closest was harvard with 8.

everyone who's educated knows wharton's the best business education in the country.

Wharton is well known throughout the country, needless to say it is very well known here in philly.

anyone who employs, like in a business, knows wharton is the top business school in the world.

I dont know why it's soo hard for everyone to understand, but the only business institution that rivals Wharton is the Harvard Business School and that is at the MBA level. Therefore, Wharton is undoubtably the best and most well known UG business school in the country.
And yes, If anyone knows anything about business and they hear you go to Wharton they tend to raise an eyebrow.

Pffff Harvard Shmarvard :) Look people who matter in this world know what Wharton is. If they dont know what Wharton is tell them to make themselves useful in society when they become butlers at my 4 villas throughout the world 8-).

But with all seriousness people who matter know what Wharton is. If they don't its not worth your time. Tell them to meet you in 10 years at your private jet. They will get the message then haha.

hahaha nice

stanford business school is also very good. My dad said that Intel, Yahoo, and Google, and HewlettPackard were all started up by people from Stanford. Ive seen Stanford Buisiness School in the top ranks too. (But nothing compared to Wharton)

Of course, rankings are not everything. But they show which ones are competeing on top.

Stanford is up there. But all those founders you names: Google's Brin and Page, Yahoo's founder none of them were students at the biz school. They were students at the engineering school. Yes Stanford can be argued to be comparable to Wharton and Harvard but it doesnt produce the tech entrepreneurs.

heh the SAS students aren't dumb but they do love to take acct 101 and fnce 100 pass/fail.

I worked with people who are from middle-eastern countries, and they all state that Wharton/Penn is one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Just like other people have posted, if a person doesn't know what Wharton is, then they aren't "in-the-know" in society and aren't worth your time.
Believe me, all employers will know Penn/Wharton.

a friend of mine from india who's a sophomore in huntsman now, said that if you say "penn" over there noone will know what youre talking about, but if you say "wharton" apparently theyll like drool. so i'd have to say that wharton exceeds penn in terms of international prestige

"a friend of mine from india who's a sophomore in huntsman now, said that if you say "penn" over there noone will know what youre talking about, but if you say "wharton" apparently theyll like drool."

Take note: anyone looking to outsource themselves to India, say Wharton.
