I have searched it everywhere on Google. Some says 18% and some says 10%. Anyone knows what exactly that is? Cheers!

I know RD hovers around 5%, so I'd be inclined to agree with the 10%, but that's based on no fact.

i would go with 18

I know the overall Wharton acceptance rates for international students last year was 12.8%

That's a lot more encouraging than i thought!

they accept about 200 Wharton applicants ED, but I couldn't find a statistic on how many applied =/

only 200? Doesn't Penn try to fill approximately 50% of its incoming class with ED applicants?

18% is close to right. The total admit rate for Wharton (ED+RD) is about 9% and the ED rate is about double the total rate.

yeah, 200 seems really small. That seems more like the number of dual/joint degree program acceptances from ED.

18%? Sweet!

Pretty sad state of things if you thing 4+ out of 5 rejected is sweet.

You know it!

scroll down to Penn's section. 200 is a little less than half of Whartonites

Thanks for the link mrchipmunk90. I stand corrected.

I do hope that number goes up this year, though.

Of all the numbers that will go up, enrollment isn't one of them - they accept around the same # every year.

lol, its ok feikuai...it was wishful thinking on your part

and i think we all wish that they accepted more...

but i still want to know how many actually apply to Wharton ED =/

Prolly around 1000 if they accept around 18%

well, no one has confirmed the 18%. i think that's just a guess

last year there were 5,500 who applied to (and actually finished the application) to Wharton, and they admitted 650 (this data is on Wharton Undergrad site). Therefore, it is more than 9%. For ED, they will fill Wharton with 300 - 325 students (200 is the number of ED admits for Class of 2007, i think)...As Harvard and Princeton eliminated their EA/ED, I bet Penn as a whole will admit more than usual. Same will Wharton...Next Saturday, 6:00am (Beijing time) for me to get my decision...then at 10:00am, I'll have my MIT interview....then at 10:00am Sunday, I will have my Rice interview...Darn it!!!

"I bet Penn as a whole will admit more than usual."

They will admit the same as always - just under 1/2 the class. Maybe even a few less, since # of ED apps was down slightly.

I think there is a discrepancy between the way admissions office releases #'s (e.g. 200 ED admits) and the way Wharton undergrad releases data - I guess having to do with the way they count joint prog. applicants.

No one can "confirm" 18% because Penn does not officially release the data, but if you extrapolate from the data, Penn ED rate overall is almost twice the total rate (something like 30% vs. 16%) so it's logical that Wharton ED is about twice the total rate for Wharton (say 16-18% vs. 9%). Of course, the flip side of this is that the RD yield is even lower than 9%. You will never (unless they change the policy) see "official" numbers on this but you can make a fairly good guess and it's widely agreed that ED is really your best shot (assuming you are sure about wanting to attend) - doubly so if you are legacy.
