Wharton & IB

I’m taking the IB, and I really want to get into Wharton. However, I made the huge mistake of taking History HL instead of Economics HL.

Will that significantly lower my chances of getting into Wharton?
What could I do to compensate for that? (Is taking online courses on Finance enough?)

(I also take Math Applications and Interpretations HL, Business Management HL, and Literature HL)

Hey! Current Wharton student here, my general advice is do not fret at all! Wharton is not a finance school, it is a business school (though it may be known for its prescence on Wall Street). Many of my friends at the school did not have significant business acumen coming in through formal coursework, but rather demonstrated interest in a facet of business. Focus on the countless other aspects that will play a large part in admissions: essays, ECs, test scores, and things will work out.

Be careful with online coursework: not all courses are made the same. I don’t think it will hurt you in anyway, but all I’m saying is that there may be better ways to spend that time (fun side projects you are interested in, etc.). Good luck! All the best

I feel relieved, thank you so much for the tips!
