What about the Bachelor's Degree from Harvard Extension?

It seems like the only entrance requirement is that you take three courses through open enrollment and pass with a B or better and write an essay that isn’t incoherent. Then you can be admitted to the Bachelor’s program.

The degree is Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies from Harvard University, and then you choose one of 19 fields of study, sort of like a major.

What are your thoughts? What are the downsides for someone who isn’t really interested in living on campus etc. and just wants a harvard degree? Do you think it might not be as easy to get in as it seems? It’s geared toward working adults, would a traditional student be out of touch?

They say all over the site that the education is just as good and that their graduates consistently get accepted to top master’s programs. Also, you are not limited to night courses at the extension school, you can take regular day classes as well as online courses.

They also have a 2 year AA degree, and I saw on their site a story of at least one person who transfered to Harvard College after finishing the AA from Harvard Extension. By the way, the degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Extension are granted by the same institution: Harvard University.

I already gave up on Harvard and now I’m at UCLA, but I came across this and recommended it to a friend. It seems perfect for people who are bent on going to Harvard but don’t get accepted.

And its a nice little profit center for Harvard, too, using facilities in the evening that would otherwise stand vacant.
