What about the future???

I am a high school sophomore, and I have no idea what I want to do with my life after school. Any advice or suggestions?

you have time

the market will change by the time you choose your major. just pay attention an d search around.

the future is made of virtual insanity

bump. bump.bump

You've got plenty of time to think about it. Don't work yourself into a lather over your future career before you're even an upperclassman.

I suggest you think long and hard about what you feel your strengths are and what you enjoy doing and try to choose a career which is heavy on those fields. There are also aptitude tests that you can take which will give you suggestions as to which careers you might enjoy.

I already acknowledged and even apologized for my lame attempt at a joke, but thanks for pointing it out again "mate".

Alex

Shut up, the both of you!

CrazedAmbition: As lame as it sounds, you could check out the career fairs and advisors at your school. My school has an assload of books about careers that you can browse and they set up 'shadow' days where you follow people around in a profession you're interested in (I did one at Fermilabs and it was TOTALLY worth it). And it's kinda important to know what you want from a job: flexible? salaried? innovation or management? where? what subjects you would need to study to do it? how much does money matter? and other such questions.

That being said, don't fret. I'm a senior and I still have only a vague, foggy idea.

I've been thinking, and I've narrowed down my options; I want to become a starving artist, ruler of Elba ( island where Napoleon was sent as a result of the Congress of Vienna), or " The Rock" ( as in, the wrestler)

why did you apoligize in the same post that you made the joke when you could have just erased what you typed?

Wow, get over it, this is my thread, I AM THE CENTER< LOL

You're normal. The average kid changes their major at least 3 times. Don't freak out...you have lots of time. ^_^ Very few people are like me and know what they want to do with their life.

lol, wow. Get over it.

Haha, btw CrazedAmbition, I barely know what to do in HIGH school (very indecisive regarding what classes to take, I don't even want to think about after high school) and it'll probably get worse in college. Like HisGraceFillsMe said, the average student changes majors 3 times so I wouldn't sweat it. It would be weirder if you were 110% certain with what you wanted to do at 15 years old.

Best of luck,
Alex

If you want to be average follow the advice to not worry and delay a decision. if you want to be successful, pick something you like and begin to pursue it with passion, while keeping enough options open with your class choices (e.g. science and math). Even focused people may change their direction as they learn of new opportunities, but don't delay making progress in some direction just because you might change.

You can talk to people at your school, but you can also try contacting some universities or even companies to learn more about what different schools offer and what people do. Be careful not to put too much faith in what any one person says, including me, they only have a single view and never have your view.

^ does the OP wanna be average?
