So I got into my first-choice school, and I'm super excited for high school. What advice do you have? What do you wish that someone had told you, or you had done differently? I want to get into a good college also, so any tips will be appreciated!

Act like a freshman-- don't come in acting like you know it all. You're young and don't know the ropes-- it's irritating when underclassmen think they are juniors/seniors.

Also-- make friends with upperclassmen.

Good luck!

Get into a fight with a senior the first day, and sleep with his girlfriend that night. That will set the tone for the rest of the year.

No, I really mean it. I'm serious.

My Advice: High School sucks. Good Luck.

i totally agree with martha. just kinda lay low until you are an upperclassman. it's annoying when the little freshmen strut through the senior hallway like they're all that lol

Keep extra clothes around you at ALL times. You will end up in a trash can on a bi-weekly basis.

Thanks... particularly RBase07. What advice does anyone have for preparing for college?

Don't act too stupid or omniscient, but stay somewhere in the middle unless there is a reason for you to be at one of the extremes.
Get into high school life as much as possible-that is, join or at least check out anything that is interesting to you. Finding niches early on can translate into a major advantage later.
Don't mess with any senior who follows the adage of freshmen = fresh meat to heart or those who will just burn you because they feel like it. In other words, stay clear of senior males.
And yes, try very hard to get As-those who fail to do so will have their rank killed, as I did (I sank somewhere into the 150s and am now only in the 70s three semesters later).

My best advice is to be active. Join clubs, sports, other activities. It's the best way to make friends and have fun during your years. I wish I had been more involved my first two years because I've definitely enjoyed myself more the more active within school I have been.

The whole upperclassmen being harsh with frosh is exaggerated. Don't bug them, they won't bug you.

Try new things; join a couple of clubs, do theatre - you never know what you might turn out to love! Do your best to do well in school, but remember that you are human and that you deserve a little fun. Do and find new things that you enjoy, make new friends, and most of all, explore who you are as a person.

Good luck.

Depends-until the class of 2005 left life for freshmen was not very good. Of course, now, life for them is a lot better, since the freshmen have more money than the seniors because the monopoly on sales was lifted.

High school is one of those things you just have to experience... there's no real advice someone can give you... just do your best in school... and try to keep up a sembelance of a social life...

I'm a senior now and I find it extremely stupid to hate someone just because they are younger than you... although there are alot of stupid guys my age who do just that... so don't **** off the dumb ones...

freshman... is always like... last year they where the very upperclassmen, but they have to start over

HS freshmen should just try to make friends w/ ppl in their class and a few upperclassmen they can count on

HS in general, dont make ec or w/e a big deal, but try to get decent grades in class and dont ignore ecs

Don't take honors geometry, it is freaking the hardest class EVER, harder than AP Calc or any of the APs for that matter and I'm not joking.

Take the PSAT, but don't you dare stress about it
Read the newspaper and cnn.com; make it a habit
Start saving money for a car or computer
Read books outside of school
Stay up-to-date with movies... you can only talk about the weather for so long
People love self-defacing humor
Take the hardest, most fascinating courses you can handle
Balance work and play
Make friends with teachers. Honest.

Try new activities ... then, by like halfway through the year at the latest, pick a few and STICK WITH THEM all four years. Hold on like your life depends on it. Oh, and do sports. Be on Varsity. Get good grades. Suck up to teachers.

Good luck!

although high school is extremely important, don't get too caught up in the academic aspect. enjoy being a teenager.

Hm, that's what I did, and well, I'm definately da Shiznit at muh sk00l homez.

Hey everything and gumball. KissMeKate frequents CC. Meaning, my advice about extra clothes for being shoved into the trash is probably a bit more appropriate ;)
