I got an interview at USC but was rejected at Case Western…
Does anyone have any theories why this might be so? for ie. do the two diff schools focus on different aspects of your resume or experiences?

Thanks in advance.

PPSP is one of the most competitive, they normally have whole bunch of perfect SAT / GPA. Combined program requirements at WUSL are so high, we did not see any point of applying, why? If you get GPA=3.8 and MCAT=36, you pretty much can apply anywhere and get accepted at Medical school. The point of combined program is to give peice of mind knowing that you either do not need to take MCAT or you can get average / low score and still have a spot at Med. School.

There’s nothing wrong with you or your application. You know alreadythat each of these programs is incredibly difficult to get into, and that even highly qualified applicants get turned down.

You’ve probably heard this a billion times by now, but each school and each program often has a specific agenda in mind–that’s why it seems like such a crapshoot. Last year (I’m currently a freshman in the combined program at BU), I remember being confused and worried with the ups and downs of college admissions–getting rejected from Stanford ED, EVERY med program other than BU that I applied for, but then getting accepted to Harvard and BU’s program. It sucks that this is the one small timeslot that the educational system has given us to carve out our futures in one fell swoop, but it’s really not the end of the world if you don’t go to a combined med program–getting into medical school the standard way is definitely possible.

P.S. Btw, it probably has very little to do with the medical EC thing–I never did any research or shadowing.
P.P.S. To the previous poster who said that an 800 in Chinese means nothing if you’re Asian…dude. I’m an ABC and that test was HARD. I had to study for months for that 800!
