What amount of aid are you expecting/received from UMinn?

I need to know this to see what the average package is turning out to be. Thanks, and bye.

I got 1216 off for reciprocity (I'm from Wisconsin), 2700 in work study, and sadly 17228 in different loans. My parents EFC is 8785.

mine sucked. i got 2k/yr presidents scholarship but the rest in loans

My parents can pay 26000 according to Fafsa but I still got 9000 in scholarships. I'm sorry that you guys didn't get good aid; I'm having similar problems with my other colleges.

Did anyone get the Gold National scholarship?

It's supposed to pay the difference between in-state and out of state tuition. I'm a little concerned, because I don't see it on the financial aid worksheet... but then I think I'm interpreting the verbage on my son's scholarship offer to mean that it won't show up until the actual statement showing what we owe is sent to us. I just hate to find out that we no longer qualify for it or something... guess I'll have to call the financial aid department.

I think I spoke to you before but I received this scholarship. It is listed as the national scholarship on the online and mailed financial aid estimates. The amount should be 4000 I believe. If it isn't listed, I seriously suggest you contact them. You still have the original notification of the scholarship, right? And you are not a resident of any of the states that the scholarship does not apply to?

Oh, duh... it was starring us right in the face (National Scholarship).

Any idea what, if anything, they give for National Merit Finalists? He'll probably need to make use of that Stafford loan to cover some personal expenses. I guess $14,000 in debt after his undergraduate degree isn't horrible.

EDIT: oh, there it is (on their website)... $1,000-$2,000... amount over $1,000 based on need. so... I suppose if our EFC is $3,000 over the 'cost of attendance'... we won't be getting any of that extra $1,000... huh.

He also has a $1,400 Undergraduate Research scholarship... sort of a work-study program as it were... I guess.

We'll be visiting campus for the first time ever a week from Friday!

I don't suppose the name muzicgirl implies band interest? My son is hoping to play in the Gopher marching band. Both a physics AND band nerd. :D

I don't know about the average package, especially for out of state students. One boy who was on the math team I coach came in with offers of various scholarships, which bundled together totalled to a full tuition, room, and board full ride, with an offer of a research assistanceship and a travel grant for study abroad. His mom was pretty happy to get that news just before Christmas 2006. He had had two years of transferable credit through dual enrollment at a community college before he matriculated at the U. I had been hoping to write a letter of recommendation for him for MIT, but he never even applied there after getting his offer from the U.
