I took AP Gov'nt online in my second semester because I had a hole in my schedule and my only other option was to take Beginning Weight Lifting (I hate PE with a passion) and I ended up getting a 5 :D

Our school didn't let us take any AP classes freshmen year...... haha

i took APES as a freshman, best class ever for a first ap, or so i'd say. it was easy for me b/c i love science, and it was a lot of fun b/c we went on field trips.

a couple of my friends took ap world (they came from an accelerated middle school program that advanced them a year in math, sci, english, and history). one took ap world and ap physics b but she was a total genius and went on to attend the university of washington starting her sophomore year.

one friend took ap macro. said it was also fun and easy.

a few key things to consider: take it easy freshman year, enjoy the transition from middle to high school, don't stress yourself out. make sure you enjoy the subject you want to take ap in. also, be aware that the kids in your ap class(es) will mostly be older than you. in apes, there was one other freshman and one sophomore. the three of us hung out all the time. the seniors and juniors pretty much shunned us. if you're super friendly or simply don't care, then you'll be fine, but otherwise try to get a couple of friends to take the class with you. it will also help if you want to form study groups and stuff. upperclassmen can get mean but it depends on ur school.

seems like freshman each year get smarter and crazier...a freshman in my ap calc ab class this year is also taking ap world and ap physics b, lol.

At my school, although freshman aren't technically prohibited from taking AP courses, the school's mandatory prerequisites needed for most AP courses in effect makes it impossible.

For example, in order to take AP Chemistry you need to have taken Chemistry (either college-prep level or honors), and math through Algebra II.

So, yeah, I didn't take any. I will graduate having taken 9 AP courses.

In my school district, they offer specialized learning programs that offer higher level courses for qualified students. As a part of this, my friends and I were required to take AP Biology freshman year. We didn't have a great teacher by any means, and we realized that, so most of us stepped it up over spring break and studied plants, animals, and a few other topics. Most of us got 5's, but it was really hard work. I was getting 70's and 80's on the tests, which were curved up to grades in the 90's, but I really doubted my ability to perform on the exam. However, my other teachers convinced us that we should take the exam, and we performed as expected.

Freshmen should be allowed to take AP exams if they feel they are prepared and want to get ahead in school. While freshman year is supposed to be a transition from middle school to high school, there's no reason that you should be forced to take it easy the entire year. Some of the AP courses should be allowed, like AP Psychology, AP Human Geography, AP World History, AP Art History, AP Environmental Science, or if they feel like they want a challenge, AP Biology. There's no reason to be held back by a school just because the school feels that you are unprepared. By working hard, you can excel at any course, even a freshman. In any case, I would hate to have to take a full year of biology before taking AP Biology only to find out that anything I learned in normal biology was of minimal help 3 years later when I took another biology course.

At my school, you can take AP World and AP Human Geography freshman year. Along with AP Gov, and AP micro.

However, rarely does anyone. But my friend took 2 APs freshman year and got 5s on both so it's pretty possible. I don't see why not.

there is no need to take ap classes your freshman year unless ur trying to graduate a year early or something

AP Biology,
AP World History,
AP English Literature,
AP Studio Art

no one is allowed to take aps freshman year :( which was probably a good thing actually

Hi, I’m a freshmen, I currently have 1 AP Human Geography. I’m considering taking some AP classes during the up coming summer, do you know where can I go to take the courses? Thanks :)

I took the only one available to me. AP World History. We don’t have AP Human Geography.

Our school offers AP Human Geo. It’s pretty easy stuff.

Ok, if you’re a really competitive student and want to go to schools like the Ivy Leagues or MIT, Standford, etc, this is what i recommend for APs.
9th: AP Macro, AP Micro, Human Geography SELF STUDY
10th: Chem, Physics C Mech, US, Psychology, Calc AB SELF STUDY PSYCHOLOGY
11th : Lang, Physics C E/M, Euro, Calc BC, Bio
12th Stat, Lit, etc…
Now, this doesn’t mean every single one of them, but each one preferred at a grade…

In my school freshys are only allowed to take Ap human geo … and sophomores are only allowed to take Ap psychology and Ap spanish or Ap french (not both spanish and french)
Junior/senior can take whatever you want.
Me i took human geography freshmen year.

Why did you all bring back this ancient thread?

Freshman aren’t allowed to take AP classes at my school. Until recently, sophomores weren’t either. Next year we’re getting APUSH and only sophomores are allowed to take it, which makes no sense to me.

i didn’t take any, because none were offered
