I will be taking 4 AP courses at my school: Statistics, Calculus BC, Physics B, Psychology. I'll be a sophomore so I haven't taken any other AP except Calc AB. I want to self study at home for one more AP course. I'm academically strong when it comes to math and science.

Which AP course do you recommend me self-studying?

Exclude history or Biology. AP gov't might be ok since it's only a sem, but is it easy? what about apes?

I am self studying AP Stats. Because you are strong in math and science, it might be easier for you to self study that and take a different course at school.

ap psych is easy to self study…i did.

ap chem is pretty easy to self study

^

AP Chem? Are you sure about that? I want to self-study that but everyone’s like “Nooo…it’s better to take the class, you’re gonna fail”

if you’ve taken a previous chem class it shouldn’t be too bad
there’s not too much math and the conceptual stuff is not too hard (for sure easier than physics)

The usual self study courses would be Psych, Enviro and Human Geography. I hear that the government and the economics courses are pretty easy too. I selfed APUSH this year, wasn’t too difficult.

Technically AP Chem isn’t THAT hard to self study, but if you can take it at school do that instead. You’ll probably end up self studying a few chapters anyway, but you get the benefit of labs/lab reports.

With a good textbook Micro/Macro Econs are ridiculously easy to self study. I recommend McConnell/Brue. I hear Psychology is an easy one as well, but I didn’t actually do it.

^Don’t listen to this people, they have no clue what they’re talking about.

You CAN NOT self study chemistry. It’s just too broad and the concepts are too complex that you need a teacher, regular practice, do your homework every day, and labs to help you.

It’s so much easier to self study a humanities than chemistry.

i plan on self-studying env sci (because it relates to AP bio, which i am already taking), psy, and stats

I heard ap chem can’t be self-studied with good results

I did self study a lot of Chemistry. It’s not impossible, it just isn’t something to be recommended. Regular practice and “homework” is part of a self study plan. I’m not talking about reading Barron’s; I’m talking about buying an AP suitable Chemistry textbook and going through each chapter, taking notes and doing problems as if you were in school. The only tipping factor is really the labs.
