What AP Summer Work Do You Have To Do?

AP Lang: Nothin yet…I could read ‘Cry, the Beloved Country’ to get a head start…naaahhh lol

I’m taking three AP classes next year, but the only class I have work for is lit. I have to read “How to Read Literature like a Professor,” and write two page essays with works cited on a prompt for each of the 20+ chapters. I also have to turn all of these essays in a week before school. The other required summer readings are “Oedipus the King,” “Hamlet,” “The Awakening,” “Pride and Prejudice,” “Death of a Salesman,” and a few more short stories. Notes and close readings are required for all of the books. Lastly, we have to define 500+ vocab terms. I think my school might take the award for having the most AP lit work ;)

AP CompSci - work with the software, read some online sites the teacher provided, and complete the first 2 chapters done in the class (this is only because if I didn’t agree, my teacher wouldn’t sign off on me taking the class >_>)

AP Stats - Nothing assigned.

AP LangComp - Read “The Scarlet Letter” and “The Kite Runner”

AP USH - Read “Don’t Know Much About History” (horrible book, can’t believe he assigned it)

And all the others are self-study :D

@ Tennis: Holy crap!!!

AP lit: read the awakening, Frankenstein, Tess of the d’urbervilles, hamlet, things fall apart, the sound and the fury, on the road, the importance of being earnest, and two others that I don’t remember. Detailed reading logs on the first four due the first day (recommended at least 6 pages each) and reading logs on each of the rest due throughout the semester.

AP Chem: Packet + problems+ review stuff
AP English Lang: Great Gatsby + Analysis
APUSH: Summer packet

AP Lang- read two books off the summer reading list, and read and annotate On Writing Well. AP Calc AB-packet of questions. AP Macro- nothing

AP Bio: Take notes on 150 pages of textbook, create full mock AP exam on ecology with answer key
AP English: 1984, Into the Wild, watch V for Vendetta, do some weird assignment with newspaper articles
AP Euro: Read A World Lit Only by Fire, write two essays, define a bunch of terms
AP Pysch: Read and take notes on long packet
AP Physics: Do ~50 textbook problems

Yay!

AP Human Geography: Nothing
AP English Lit: Read Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House,” James McBride’s “The Color of Water,” and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” and write a literary analysis paper comparing similar aspects shared between the three works of literature.
AP Chemistry: Nothing (There was supposed to be a summer project, but I haven’t heard anything about it, and our AP Chem teacher changes every few years, so…)
AP Latin: Read Virgil’s “Aeneid”. (Read that in 10th grade, so…)
AP Calculus AB: Nothing

So…A fair amount of reading, but I like reading, so no big deal. Although, knowing me, I’ll be reading the books a week before school starts and cranking my paper out the day before it’s due. :)

APUSH: Read a book, do an essay on it.

SCORE.

AP Macro: nothing (self study)
AP Micro: " " " "
AP English: read a few books
AP Bio: nothing (I have no bio experience, so I have to do some review)
AP Physics C Mech: nothing
AP Physics C E&M: nothing
AP Latin: read Aenied (in english)

Does anyone have any recommendations for AP Bio if you have never taken any Bio class before? Like where should I start?

Ap Psychology: Read Chapter 1, sumarize the different schools of psychology, define the terms, and answer the questions at the end of the chapter.

Ap European History: None ( I was lucky… usually there is homework for most Ap history courses at my school. )

At my school, you can choose to take a test in the middle of the summer that exempts you from having to do the homework (which is usually not too bad anyway). Most AP classes don’t require either the test or the homework, though. I have always opted for the tests rather than the homework to save time and effort.

AP Psych: Nothing
AP Gov: Nothing
AP Lang:

Read Into the Wild and Their Eyes Were Watching God. For both, find 10 previously unknown vocab words and compose 5 Reader Logs.

For Into the Wild, you must also write a 1-2 page essay of a personal experience chronicled in the style of the author.

I’m doing it last minute. Does this even need to be questioned?

AP Stat: nothing
AP Calc AB: nothing

AP Lit—Read Crime and Punishment + packet of about 50 questions
AP Euro—Read The Prince and outline, read some excerpts from the textbook, and do an essay
AP Calc BC—Some review questions from the textbook

ap english lit: read pride and prejudice, the sun also rises, and a book of choice for the reading list. There are assignments for each

ap calc AB: packet of questions

probs (why summer work for a honors class?): packet of worksheets

ap bio; powerpoint project and write a newspaper article from an interview

ap art history; nothing :)

AP Language: Read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and write a journal. Then read a nonfiction book chosen from a list (I picked The Omnivore’s Dilemma) and have a book report. Create a summer dictionary of twenty words.

APUSH: Read a book of your choice from a list (I picked The Jungle by Upton Sinclair) and write a 4-5 page essay.

AP Chem: Learn the fundamentals of chemistry and fill out some worksheets. Memorize the polyatomic ions and the names of cations and anions.
