Multiracial… As in??

Beacause I am 100% white.

feral…you must not know what multi racial means. the kid is 100% pure white. multi racial means you’re mixed, like your mom is black and ur dad is white…stuff like that.

technically you’re just a white international student from an under-represented area.

edit: fwiw, connation of ethnicity/race(w.e it states on the form) is basically your color/origin(before you and your parents and possibly grandparents).

just because you have african traditions doesnt make you black.

That makes a little more sense. :)

it’s race not where you live… you are white so you are caucasian. its like chinese people whos been living in america for 1000 yrs. they are still asian though they might have never set food in asia.

being URM just cause you are from africa is too easy. college admissioners would never make a mistake like that. they make it based on skin color which is genetic and can’t be changed right now so they can clearly distinguish what type you are.

I think they must ‘standardise’/‘imperialise’ race.

African American = Black American
Asian = Skin colour and/or origin
African = Skin colour and/or origin
Native American = American Indian (“Red Indian”)
Multiracial = Skin colour (In SA multiracial people are called coloureds)

oh my bad, i thought he said black, not african.

“colored” tends to have a negative connotation here in the states - it’s usually seen as a phrase used back in the days of slavery/segregation.

Haha exactly what I meant. Each nation/area has their own terms. Oh well, it’s just one of those things we have to get around. :)

Are there any South Africans that you know of at any of your universities?

:) (Bump) :)

Bump…again

Bump…again

i thought Cornell is need-blind to internationals as well

Unfortunately not

i thought Cornell is need blind for Canadians and Mexicans?! can someone confirm that?

I wouldn’t have any idea whatsoever.

Yes, Cornell is need-blind to Canadians and Mexicans

That doesn’t help me. lol

You’ve had plenty of help RexRingo, bumping this thread does little to get you more information.

Take what you have learned and move on.

Well, there’s no requirement to fill in race. They’ll see your location is South Africa, and if you skip the race question, then I guess it’s up in the air. It might get you bonus points for AA, might not.
