What are colleges that are like Northwestern University?

Also, are there any colleges like Northwestern University that have admission rates of 30% and higher?

“Like” it in what way?

“Like” as in similar standards of academics.

**from USNWR:

of these, those in bold would be the most comparable to Northwestern**

Shiner College, a tiny LAC that doesn’t even have its own campus and that has barely kept the wolf from its door for the last 40 years is “like” one of the wealthiest private research universities in the Midwest?

ROFLMAO

I am sorry, but I seemed to have missed where this statement was made…Shiner College was NEVER identified as comparable to Northwestern…

If you had any kind of reading ability, you would realize that Shiner was posted because it had a 30%-33% acceptance rate…maybe you missed the title of my post:

Say what you will about Shimerians, at least we can spell. :p

(Apologies to the OP for continuing the derail. And yes, I think it’s fair to say that Shimer is nothing like Northwestern… though I would probably say those words with a slightly different emphasis than the posters above.)

Apparently you missed the title of this thread. Let me help:

“What are colleges that are like Northwestern University?”

again, it appears that you missed the part where I specifically stated that first I posted the schools with 30-33% acceptance rates, as listed by USNWR, since that was ONE of the criteria requested by the OP.

if you fail to understand this then maybe you should take a breather and re-read my post over and over and over again until you “get it”

I’m sorry JamieBrown, but you’re being overly aggressive for no reason.

In fact, the OP is asking for what schools are like Northwestern AND have a 30+% acceptance rate. Otherwise the question would have been “What schools have a 30+% acceptance rate.” However, because the sentence actually says Northwestern then the semantic/syntactic meaning of the sentence is, as I stated, like Northwestern AND has a 30+% acceptance rate.

^It looks like you have the reading comprehension skills of annasdad. Jamiebrown first posted a list of schools with acceptance rates b/w 30-33% and then proceeded to bold the schools on that list that were similar to Northwestern. Hence, the bolded schools satisfy both criteria. Not that difficult, people.

^^^^norcal, thanks for pointing this out…it appears that NYU2013 and annasdad are cousins or something - or maybe the same person using two different aliases because it is hard to believe that anyone would side with annasdad’s silly posted messages…

actually, since not many with over 30% acceptance rates are that similar to Northwestern, the ones from the list that were the most “comparable” were bolded.

Some LAC’s like Bucknell, Holy Cross, Colgate. ALL 3 have strong academics and Division 1 sports(DIV1AA FOR FOOTBALL).

@norcalguy and JamieBrown

Yes, I understood the point of bolding vs. non-bolding. I’m not a moron. However, if the OP asked for schools similar to Northwestern with an acceptance rate of 30+% or greater, the extra schools you listed are irrelevant information. And, as a general rule of writing you only provide that which is pertinent or relevant to the topic.

And what have you written on this thread that is pertinent to the topic?

Pointing out that most of the schools listed are not like Northwestern, as indicated by annasdad. And then trying to explain the rules of writing, english and syntax/semantics to other posters, so as they don’t confuse the topics at hand.

most people’e time is very valuable

any list provided here is provided free of charge

are you saying that providing is list of schools and then bolding the ones that are most comparable is not the right way to do it and one should spend even more time deleting the other schools?

do you, by any chance, think that the OP understands that the bolded schools are the ones that have equal to or greater than 30% admittance rate and more comparable to Northwestern, in view of the overall set of schools with 30-33% admittance rate?

are you kidding?

I think you forgot the English rule that requires proper nouns to be capitalized.

University of Arizona
Kansas State

The majority of students applying to northwestern also apply to washington u. In st. louis since it is also a midwestern school with similar prestige, size, academics, etc.
