How is accounting related?

Surveying

How is accounting not related?

Because it typically does not involve very much math…?

Um, yes it does. Have you ever taken an accounting course? It’s all about addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Last time I checked, these were all significant parts of math.

I suppose the OP should have defined what he meant by “math related.” Does he mean all subjects studied in a similar way to math, or all subjects that have math as a significant part of their study?

I think the math majors on this board like to make a distinction between arithmetic and math.

And to add to what b@r!um says, so that we math majors don’t just sound like we’re saying “math is something other than numbers and addition” to sound high and mighty, consider that mathematics is the study of geometry, arithmetic, calculus, etc, as well as their interactions in significant senses. This is different from using calculus, arithmetic, geometry facts for your own health.

So a major like economics could actually be math-related, in that it may require (depending on the goal) an understanding of how mathematical subjects are analyzed.
