What are my Blue Ribbon chances at Brandeis?

Ok. I’m applying to Brandeis. What do you think my chances are out of 10 (1-rejected, 10-accepted) for getting in on Febuary 1st??

SAT I: 700 cr, 670 math, 640 writing

SAT II: Lit-680, Math IIc-620, American History-760

AP: 5 on AP gov’t, 4 on us history

Grades: Always took hardest classes
All As Freshman year
mostly B+/A- sophomore year,
Junior year 2-3 A-s, 2-3 B+s and B-/Cs in precal and ap English

Essay: Wrote about stuff I started and passion for politics. Good not great

Parents: MIT

School: urban public high school

Freshman-Student Council, Regional Science Fair participant, History Day competitor

Sophomore-Started JSA (political club), Kerry Campaign (volunteer), Academic Decathlon, Student Council, Regional Science Fair participant

Junior-JSA (president), Kerry Campaign (intern), Academic Decathlon, Student Council, student advisory council to the state department of ed, regional science fair, state senate campaign, founder of students against Romney (Boston Globe printed an article on us that I am sending w my application)

Senior-JSA (president), School committee campaign (field director) Academic Decathlon, Student Council (co-president), chairman of legislative workgroup of the student advisory council to the state department of ed

Recommendations: one good more personal teacher rec, one nice but more boring teacher rec, one additional rec from a state senator who included a lot of details.

Other: JSA summer school at Yale summer between freshman and sophomore year, NHS, one of 10 state finalists for senate youth program

Your EC's and test scores are prety good, but your grades are on the low end. I'd say most people here got mostly A's in honors classes.

anyone else????

Your stats are roughly in the same ballpark as my daughter's -a little lower perhaps-- she was acccepted ED-- on a 1-10 scale and compared to the RD admissions group, I'd guess you're around 7?? I don't know if being Blue Ribbon improves your chances.

how is it that you are a blue ribbon? what exactly is blue ribbon? Can i get a blue ribbon?

So what is your cumulative GPA?

Looks good based on what you present here. Grades seem to have slid steadily downward and your extra-currics are all in the political area, which they may either think is good (shows focus in an area of interest) or not (doesn't show well-roundedness). Depending on the urban high school -- some are good, some not, that could be the deciding factor.

drinkingmilkalldaylong, blue ribbon deadline was in the middle of december. it's too late. :(

i think you have a good a good chance.
