Good rec letters from Physics and French teacher(has known me for 4 years)
One last thing. I’m pretty happy with my SAT/ACT score but I took both when I was pretty sick. Should I retake them or just be done with it?
thanks for reading, I appreciate your honest feedback.
Don’t you think the comment- dot not feather is in poor taste?
No, do not retake SAT. It would only detract from your app as your SAT is plenty enough. That’s not what you need to focus on at all.
Are you automatic admit for UT? What are your matches? TBH, your list consists of reaches if UT is not auto admit for you. You seem prestige driven. I would suggest a more realistic list with safeties, matches and reaches.
I have a list of safeties matches and reaches, I was just wondering about my chances at my reaches. My high school doesn’t rank so while I’m not auto admit, it’s my personal opinion that I have a good chance. And I’m applying to these schools not for prestige but because I’ve visited each campus and genuinely want to attend. So I’d appreciate if someone would answer my initial question, do I have a chance at these schools? Thanks and if I appear harsh that’s not my intention, I appreciate your questions and concern for me.
SAT II 2330??? Also, didn’t you already make a chance thread?
@jarrett211 He’s doing the annoying thing where they combine all three SAT 2s into a “composite” out of 2400.
OP. Just list out your individual subject test scores. Colleges don’t combine scores like that, neither should you.
Yes, of course you have a chance. It’s still a long shot and you could be shut out of all of them.
If it’s your personal opinion that you have a good chance, then why seek out anyone else’s opinion? If you are confident, then just apply and see what happens. But to all of them? That’s a lot of work. Only you can decide if you have that much time/energy to spend on 8 applications plus your matches and safeties.
Good luck!
Even if your Texas school doesn’t rank they still have to rank the top 10% for Texas public schools and the top 8% for UT Austin. So this tells us that you go to a very competitive school because they decide not to show rank below top 10% and that you are not in the top 10%. That metric might effect you some with top schools. It’s hard to tell. Competitive schools will gage where your rank is without telling them. I have experience with a very competitive magnet school in Texas and this hurt some kids in the application process to top schools. Ask your school counselor- they should be able to tell you what kind of chances you might have.
Use your school Naviance account if they have one. That will let you know the profile of the people being rejected and accepted from your school.
Unfortunately, you are an ORM applying to a major that is already over represented with ORM’s.
My S would have been terribly discouraged from his reach by his highly competitive school. But I had done a lot of research and he was accepted to his reach ED. When you see his high school’s Naviance account for his reach, there he is- the outlier. But he is URM and a male in a female dominated major.
Do, do your homework and research the schools you are most interested in but I don’t recommend shot gunning.
Good luck.
