what are my chances as a transfer?

Due to personal financial hardships and poor academic standin, I recently transferred from a SUNY 2-year college to a CUNY 2-year college. I am currently enrolled in a Fall 2011 semester at the CUNY and plan to stay there for a year (so until Summer 2012).

After this Fall 2011 semster I'm am planning to send an application to Stony Brook in January to attend Fall 2012. Does anyone know how Stony Brook looks at my transcripts to decide wether I am accepted or not?

I'm worried because I have a feeling they will judge me based on one semester at my CUNY, and not take into account my SUNY college (where I did poorly for 3 semesters). This semester I'm expecting a 2.7-3.0 GPA, my last college i had below 2.0.

Does anyone know what my chances are?

I’d say slim.

"For admission purposes, you are a transfer student if you have registered at a college or university after graduating from high school. Applicants are required to have performed well in a strong academic program, having completed at least 24 credits with a GPA of 3.0 or higher by the time they submit their application.
