What are my chances at Appalachian? And would retaking the SAT in December help?

On the SAT, I got a 510 on the math, 550 on the reading, and a 600 on the writing. That's a cumulative score of 1660. I have 3.5 unweighted and 4.0 weighted GPA. I'm on National Honors Society and National Art Honors Society. I also participate in a few other clubs and do lots of service work. What are my chances of getting into Appalachian State?

I've applied since the early admission date is November 15th. And I think I can do better on the SAT, but would retaking it in December affect my chances of getting in? The acceptance letters go out on January 25th.

I work as a high school counselor in NC. This year has been crazy for bright, GPA strong students getting turned down or deferred from NC public universities. When I’ve called these colleges to help these students and inquire about why they didn’t get accepted, SAT is the #1 response. These students had strong GPAS- usually about 4.2+ weighted- but their SAT scores for the math and critical reading were between 1000-1100. I was told that with colleges becoming more selective, that they are looking for at least 1100 on those 2 sections. I would expect that from Chapel Hill or NC State, but this was the response I received from UNCC and UNC Asheville. Appalachian’s average acceptance GPA is about 3.9 weighted. Not sure if you are 11th or 12th grader, but if you have time, please get your GPA up or do a lot of SAT test prep.
