A 32 is certainly high enough for Barnard. Their admissions person said in their presentation that they don’t like it if you take the ACT or SAT more than twice.

way too many extracurriculars that you couldnt have possibly given a good amount of time to each

What’s your personal story? I can see some threads in your volunteer choices; explain what drives you and why. Any tie-in to your major or professional goals?

Can you elaborate on the comment that admissions doesn’t like more than 2 ACTs? (We took tour but couldn’t make info session). My D never took PSATs due to a strong focus on a high-level extra curricular. Now on college track, feels a third ACT would solidify scores, as Barnard does not super score. Thoughts?

@betwixt We had an middle aged woman who did the info session and she said pointedly (this was June, 2015) that Barnard does not like to see the standardized tests done more than twice. However, I do not recognize anyone on the current admissions team page as the person who did the session. D16’s representative changed between June and the fall of that year, so there has been turnover in the office. Whether or not they have the same philosophy regarding test scores, I can’t say. It may be best to contact the rep for your area and ask the question. https://admissions.barnard.edu/plan-your-visit/meet-representatives

Thank you @Bouders - I will check. I know Georgetown states something similar on their website, although I have to believe colleges understand that there are unique circumstances that would benefit from more than 2 tries. In my D’s case, never having taken any PSATs or SATs prior as she was pursuing a professional non-college track. Experience simply taking these tests benefits the student and hopefully improves scores.
