For the open spot should I take AP Stats or AP Psych? Which do colleges prefer?

Assuming your essays are good you should be a shoo in.

Stats if you like Business and similar pursuits, Psych if you like an easy AP.

Your application is overall above average. It’s very diverse, so that’ll raise your chances. However, keep in mind that these are Ivies we’re talking about. There are no guarantees for these type of schools. As for which AP to take, colleges don’t care about that. You should take the one most related to your intended major.

If you like Columbia and Penn (urban campuses), I might also suggest adding UChicago to your list. Seeing that you were VP of econ club, I think UChicago may be a good fit for you with Milton Friedman and the like.

That’s a great suggestion. Thanks!

You’re very likely to get into Columbia and UPenn. Yale and Stanford would be hard for anyone, but you definitely have what it takes. If you’re applying to all the top schools, I’d only worry about Harvard, Yale, and Stanford; you’ve got the other Ivies down along with Duke, UChicago, Berkeley, and other top schools you want to apply to.

All those schools are reaches for almost everyone. It will all depend on your essays/recs.

Thanks for chancing me by the way!!! Anyways, I think you have a chance at all of these schools. What I suggest to you is that you make sure your essays reflect your passions and parallel with the accomplishments you have made in high school. If not, at least make sure it highlights who you are as a person. What makes you unique? What pushes you to strive for success?? Write about it! Put everything you have into the essays to reflect your stellar resume! Do that and you will be good! :)

Yale and Stanford will be tough, but your chances are as good as any unhooked applicant. Columbia is marginally easier, then Penn is marginally easier than Columbia. I’m not gonna comment on UChicago because it seems that every year, their accept rate gets lower and lower by significant measures, so it’s hard to really know at this point.

Your an If student

If your domestic
If you’ve taken the hardest curriculum at your school
If you’ve only taken the SAT once
If adcom doesn’t look too hard at your Ec’s ( they’re average at best)
If you can write a heartfelt essay. (Most kids can’t)
If your rec’s come through

If all this happens, then your chances are as good as anyones. Except for maybe an endowment student.

You look like you have a very good chance, but remember that it’s a crap shoot, so there’s no guarantee even for a student as promising as you.

Bump…

Holy ****. You’re in!

Bump :)…

Don’t believe anyone who tells you that you are a shoo-in. Read some of the posts in the Admissions forum when the results were announced at the end of March from all the perfect applicants who didn’t get into these schools.
Instead, look at the statistics - Yale 6.72% acceptance rate. Since you are so well qualified perhaps your chances are 7 or 8% - those are still crappy odds. So apply to all the super-selective schools but assume you may get into NONE of them.
Focus your attention on a good set of excellent schools where your odds are better.

good job!!

I strongly agree. Your stats are at best average compared to the top 10,000 applicants and only one out of five in that subgroup will be accepted. The question you need to address in your applications is: what makes you stand out from other similarly-qualified candidates? Why should you get the acceptance nod?

You will do best if you can show enthusiasm and passion, focus and leadership; a touch of quirky can be good. Anything that makes you leap off the page as a person rather than just a collection of stats. Your regional rep should want to strongly advocate for you in front of the larger committee and then he or she will only have 15 seconds to describe you and make your case.

I totally agree. I am not placing too much emphasis on these extremely selective schools. If I get in GREAT and WONDERFUL! If not, I will be perfectly happy going to UCLA (My realistic school).
My dream schools are:
Yale, UPenn, Columbia and Stanford
My Realistic schools are:
UCLA, UC Berkeley, and Northwestern.

Excellent backup choice! Do try your best for getting into your dream schools, but don’t ever put your ego on the line: your life’s success is most certainly NOT dependent on the sometimes-random whims of a group of strangers on some committee who barely have the time to get to know you!
